For the record, in 2007.....

2007 was the biggest smoke and mirrors season I've ever seen.

And we probably should have beat the eventual national champions that year in the SEC championship too. Yeah that team was insanely lucky or clutch however you want to see it. Though I give that team a lot more credit than others, especially since we won over a pretty good Wisconsin team in the post season as well.

You're right. I wasn't necessarily knocking the team, but they were very lucky to have made it to the SECCG.

This post deserves more than a like. We beat the dog sh*t out of Utah St last week. On a short week, with a team so young we played 21 freshman in the opener, with a noon kick off, we played "so poorly" we beat a team we were favored to beat by 17 by 15.

Yes, the offense got vanilla after we got up by 3 scores in the third. Maybe we were working on running and deep passes. You know, the things were struggling with that we needed to work on. Why show OU more than we need to?

So while I'm not as exuberant as I was after the USU win, we still get the W and after we got ahead, the game was never in serious doubt. So I look on here and people are bit&hing and moaning. "Our offense sucks", Bajakian is terrible, etc. My question is what did people expect coming into this season? Honestly, we've looked a little better thus far that I thought we would. This staff has been nothing short of amazing so far and people have the gall to call for change? This team has been up both games. We've made mistakes but geez we are one of the youngest teams in CFB. A top 5 recruiting class last year and on track for a top 10 this year. And yet there are people who are still not happy.

Yeah, I couldn't blame Butch if it crossed his mind to look elsewhere either. I thought Finebaum was just picking on UT at first but maybe we do have a high % of dumb asses.

Have to agree with both...team played well. While there is room for improvement, there is also room to celebrate the way they played....hard for the entire game!

it was the most fun though. i had no expectations after the uf loss and we got more than our $$ worth the rest of the year except bama. never knew what to expect from that team.

Butch understands the "inches" that win football games

It's going to be ok.

That 2007 team really wasn't that good. The defense was god-awful almost the entire season. They got lucky in several games (South Carolina, Vandy, and UK). Yes, they played very well against Arky and UGA, but those teams also played very crappy those days. We were about 2 or 3 plays away from a 6-6 season that year. We were about 2 or 3 plays away from a 7-5 season last year. Luck plays a huge factor in college football. Let's hope we get some of that luck back this year.

So we beat UGA and Ark because they played bad? You don't think maybe we had something to do with that?

While I agree there is no reason to panic, Butch isn't leaving because of our fans. I don't care where you go, in major college football if you don't beat "Directional State University" by at least 5 touchdowns then you didn't beat them enough, according to the fans.

If you think about it, USU and AS are not bad teams. They are definitely stronger "cupcakes". I think they have given us good insights on what needs to be improved.

I agree with you. I don't really believe Butch would leave over something posted on volnation. Head coaches are typically too thick skinned to let message board fodder get to them. I believe Butch is here for the long haul and that's why I was so fired up in my post.
