Tcu is a good football team but they wouldn’t be in the playoffs if they played in the SEC. You can catch lightning in a bottle in the big twelve and make a run, wouldn’t happen in this conference.
Disagree.
This TCU would absolutely compete for a title in the SEC this year.
Recruiting rankings matter, but they matter more so to sustaining success. But good coaching and development occasionally come together and create a very good team, despite the rankings. I wouldn't expect TCU to repeat next year as CFP finalist, but this current team is a very good team.
Dude Kentucky and Miss St and Florida and Missouri and Texas A&M and Ole Miss and Vanderbilt and S.C. all suck. S.C. caught lightning in a bottle beating us.This all day long. TCU plays in a conference of pillow fighting. They got a very lucky draw in Michigan.
They would be lucky to be a Ky or a MissSt in the SEC.
He beat Texas by 7 , Alabama beat Texas by 2 so that don’t hold water.Look at what Bama did to the team that beat TCU in the Big XII Championship today. I didn’t have a problem with TCU getting in (If we are going by who deserved it, then Ohio State should’ve been left out and they are absolutely destroying #1 Georgia right now- but their schedule was an absolute joke), but TCU would’ve been obliterated by Alabama or dare I say, a healthy Tennessee.
Sonny Dykes is a journeyman. He’s like a modern day Houston Nutt. He’s a good coach, but it’s not like he’s known as elite and has been very average for quite a bit of his career.
As for coaches mattering more, I offer
Exhibit A Ed Orgeron
Exhibit B Gene Chizik
Those teams could have had a monkey for a head coach and still won a championship
TCU is going to NC game with a five year recruiting average of 30. BTW we stand at 17 and beat Bama, LSU, and Clemson. Yes, to go to playoffs nearly every year, you need to be near the top of the list. Recruiting matters, but coaches matter more.

UF was down to their 4th string QB who had attempted 14 career passes and none coming at UF. They had multiple WR’s opt out as well. Oregon State didn’t. UK is awful, but they too were without Levis and Rodriguez. They were shells of the teams that had played all season.Dude Kentucky and Miss St and Florida and Missouri and Texas A&M and Ole Miss and Vanderbilt and S.C. all suck. Oregon St boat raced Florida
Kentucky didn’t belong on the field vs a crappy Iowa team.
Ole Miss got curb stomped by TexasTech
Coaching does matter , thank God we have a really good one. With Pruitt , Jones , Kiffin, Dooley we would have been 7-5 , 8-4 at best.

Then why didnt this "elite talent" get reflected in the recruiting rankings? TCU has averaged 30th in recruiting over the last few years. Are you telling me that TCU managed to recruit that many "diamond in the rough" players and they somehow ALL panned out? Possibly but seems highly unlikely. If this is the case then they are the luckiest team in the history of college football. Not sure if you know about recruiting but Texas High school football is one of the best in the country . TCU is loaded with some very elite talent . Georgia be lucky to win. Georgia don’t have anything on Texas talent.
