For Those Clamoring

UT "fans" possess an unreal level of pessimism, which really leads me to question why they are UT fans in the first place. I know every team will suck some years, but when you continually look for the flaws, mistakes, and shortcomings, no matter what, that seems to me like you actually hate the Vols and wish them nothing well. There's nothing wrong with that, but it just confuses the hell out of me as to why they would put on the facade of a UT fan who WOULD like to see the team do well....

Give me a break. What confuses the Hell out of me is how some on here are stupid enough to think that getting our asses handed to us by a mediocre D-II team is not a reason for concern.

You think I'm not concerned? You assume, because I'm a supportive fan, that I'm blind to negative things. It's definitely a problem, something has to be done. I'm very eager to see how we look tomorrow night. I'm worried about this, but I will really start worrying when we drop a game before (and if) we get to New York in a couple weeks.

I didn't assume anything. I was just saying the little "true fan" argument is absurd. Being concerned right now is just reality not pessimism.

I'm not doing the true fan argument. I'm just pointing out how pessimistic you seem, and it makes me think that you would not be happy if this team has a good season. In my most unbiased opinion, the reality is that this loss was not good, and it it truly is a reason for concern. I would truly think that the team would bounce back from this and not lose until we get to New York. If this team really does have a substantial problem, we will find out by then.

Yea, clearly not a true fan argument.

And, the crap about how I hope we don't do well may qualify as the biggest pile of slop you've posted yet, which is really saying something. Not that I have to justify myself to you, but I attended virtually every home game from 2005-2009, my years at UT. I've followed them to the NCAA tournament 3 of the 5 times they've been there under Pearl including the Elite Eight game last year. But I clearly hope we suck ass this year.

Based on everything I've seen you post up to this point, I've had no reason to believe you were a Vols fan at all. Just saying....you are right, I certainly was implying the true fan argument, but I wasn't aware. I never considered you to be a bandwagon fan, which is where I would do the true fan argument, I just thought you weren't a fan at all.

What you need to learn is that just because someone doesn't have his head firmly planted up Bruce Pearl's ass like most of the people on here do, that doesn't mean that you don't support the program. In fact, I would wager that I've followed UT basketball much closer than most on here for many years now.

So, for the record, you WOULD be happy if we have a good season? And you hate Pearl and Hopson? I'm not saying that's wrong or dumb or anything, but I'm just trying to wrap my head around your stance with this 2010-11 team.

I see you've now moved into outright lying. Find me a post where I've said anything about hating Hopson.

Of course, I'd be happy if we do well this year. But, for some of you Pearl Lovers, if you don't have some blind optimism on how good our team is, you hope they lose. Some of you need to grab a clue.

Some people are so far optimistic they have no clue how to be realistic.

realistic about what? losing an exhibition game does not define this team or any other team.

is it fair to say you dislike Hopson? :)

I dislike Hopson's game because I think he is a weak player. I'm sure he's a good kid. I have no personal dislike for him at all.

I'm not even talking about Tennessee in general. I'm just saying I find it stupid that some on here think the SEC is making a comeback when in reality, they're nowhere close to the Big 10, Big East, Big 12, or ACC.

The sec is inferior to most of the major basketball conferences but your in sec country. Its easy to see that we lack the talent, coaching and depth of other conferences.

Most Sec fans will against all odds root for their conference over the others. What is wrong with that?

SEC fans can root all they want. I just can't stand the fact people try to claim the SEC is the best. There's a difference between rooting and being realistic.

No one is predicting an SEC team to make the final four this season but that doesnt mean it wont happen.
