For those who said FAU would lose by 30...

I really put more stock into winning a regular season conference title than i do the NCAA tourney. With transfers, one and dones, and players that might not be fully invested, it's really a coin toss who makes the final 4 these days.

Maybe that makes it better, I don't know.

I put more stock in the regular season championship than the conference tournament. I can't go so far as to say it outweighs the NCAAT. But I'll concede a team has more control over the regualr season championship than the NCAAT.

35 wins. Kids can play.
That was a heck of a game. Puzzling, as you’d think with the game Kstate’s PG had, there’d be no way FAU would win. They are VERY well coached. Inevitable that he will be getting a big time job, and soon.

You realize he has a fraction of the resources and talent he would have here? You realize he just made it to where we have been zero times in the history of this program? Man I get tired of all the people on here who fight for mediocrity.
You have a skewed idea of mediocrity. UT's one of the best basketball programs in the country.

Show me a team with 30+ wins in modern D1 college basketball and I guarantee you they can play with anyone. It's not like 30 years ago when the separation of talent was more dramatic.
The crazy thing is FAU may not have gotten in the dance at all had they not won the C-USA tournament.

I think there should be a rule change that guarantees a 30 win team an automatic bid.

Same old, same old bullsh1t. Dude's a star...til he ain't. I'll stick with our coach who gets us to the dance almost EVERY year. Looking at TN history, we should praise him! Maybe we'll go all the way soon. Enough for me
All these folks wanting Barnes to move on baffles me. His teams will play any blue blood in the country and win more than they lose, he schedules more high profile games than any coach we’ve ever had which is a lot of fun, he gets high level recruits to not just consider coming to UT but actually PLAYING HERE! Plus we win! Consistently! Take away some terrible times injuries and a couple of miraculous shots and he’s would’ve had us even further in Tourny.
When he leaves the chance of us slipping back to mediocrity is very likely. Recruits go elsewhere
I hope he stays until he’s at least 72

Kids are legit? Looks like the coach is going to get a nice payday from this. What's the proper tip to the players for a natty?

Put me in the class that thought Ks St would romp. I was wrong. They should have won if Nowell, their star guard had kept his head in the game and not tried to be fancy. He cost them multiple turnovers, passing to guys who wasn't expecting it, sloppy passing, and with the clock running out and behind by 3 he passes the ball off to the center for 2 points instead of going for a 3 pointer that would have tied up the game. But give FAU credit , they won and moving on.

That’s not from our game. We didn’t lose because of rebounding.. we lost shooting 33.3% from the field.
CLEARLY…shooting percentage was down. IF we rebound ball the way we can…CLEARLY…we win that game.

That and about 10 bunnies in the 1st half that clanked of the side of the rim. We should have been up 15+ going into 2nd ½. Hot potato shooting around the rim. We would have absorbed the run had we done that.
Those bunnies hurt…BUT all those points we gave up on simply put backs…KILLED US!!

Remember at halftime if you were concerned we left too many points on the floor and that their 3s would start to fall in the second half, you were a “NegaVol”?

Remember the time Bobby Boucher showed up at halftime and the Mud Dogs won the Bourbon Bowl, do ya?

I do!

Mama said, “I wish Bobby played some basketball and came in at halftime and maybe we would have made it to the Elite 8”!

Man I get tired of all the people on here that call what CRB has done as Mediocre.

Can you and the others even defined Mediocrity. It's a word that most of you use because you think it sticks. It doesn't. So what you call Mediocre most teams would love to be in that Position.

Now the money How much do you pay on CRB's Salary. How much you willing to fork over in Buyout $$$$

Whether you like it or not the Athletic Programs in the NCAA are all about $$$$$ and putting fans in the seats. It's a business and there is no such thing as bad PR.

Regarding the $$$$ Just go give them the money and hire who you want. Sorry it doesn't work that way. CRB is not going anywhere until CRB decides he is gone. We are going to get what we paid him to do for the timeframe we contracted him.

Get over it, leave and take your other Mediocre Fans with you.
How about you leave and go follow Vandy? They're pretty content with mediocrity.

How many teams have advanced further than we have in the NCAAT just since Barnes has been here? We are not one of the best any more than Kentucky is one of the best football teams in the country.

Conversely, the door is open for you to follow a team that meets your standards. UT never has and may not for a while yet.
I'll let you know when I need your approval to choose a team. I have earned my Vol fandom over a lifetime and don't need your permission to voice my opinion.

Quite a few, The NCAAT isn't the be all end all of a basketball season. Regular season and SECT count for a lot too.
Our basketball program is well above UK's football program and it's not close.

Where are all those posters on here who laughed and made fun of my statements that FAU was a good basketball team and we would have to play a very good game to win our game against us. It’s funny that they seem to have disappeared from the board for some reason. It still come down to talent, especially at the 1 and 5 positions and we do not match up with most of the team we lost to at those positions. I knew we could not depend on ON to contribute much after his 27 point game against Duke and he scored only 8 against FAU. By the way, FAU is in the Final Four. The Lady Vols have the same problem the same positions.

Au contraire: UK made the final AP top 25 in both 2018 and 2021. How often have we made the final poll in basketball? Your assertion is demonstrably false.
