Forgive Student Loans?

The 'government' doesn't pay anything. They steal and then redistribute. Why is this so hard for people to understand? I guess if you aren't the one being stolen from it's OK.

Our Feds need a kick up the rear side with this just print it method..oh yea it is coming. Unfortunately we gotta take the ride as well

Now is the best time ever.

This coming or even next recession will be so bad...cant keep printing without causing even more inflation..Going to be monumental.

By Joes thought process...I see catastrophe

This goes back to the whole covid relief money debate. This $hit was stupid to just mail checks to everybody, but what do you do? Send it back while others keep theirs and say f u? Still vote against these imbeciles to get them out of office.

Yeah it's not like that obligation was still there or anything like that....

No one (or at least no one with a brain) is paying down loans while they're paused. I'm sure some are saving money for when they come back, but that also depends on the economy and job market to some extent

The average is $400. The median is around $230.

I’m not out of touch, you’re just spewing BS as usual.

Lol at the old guy arguing with me about student loans when damn near everyone I know is paying them off. Using law school as an example, the top legal jobs hire almost exclusively from the top 15-20 schools which generally all cost 70-90K per year. There's some merit-based aid in addition to loans, but six-figure debt is not an uncommon thing for a chance at a job that starts around 225K and goes up from there

Med school is generally pretty similar. Think you're paying off 200K with $400 a month?

Average Medical School Debt for Public School
For the class of 2021, the AAMC found that the average medical school debt among students attending a public school was $194,280. Seventy-four percent of med students at a public college said they had education debt.

In total, 14% of medical students attending a public school said they had at least $300,000 in average med school debt and premedical debt, combined.

You mean the guy that showed you the data is arguing with the guy throwing BS around about all these people will have to pay thousands per month if the moratorium is lifted? Yep, that’s me.

If you got a law degree from a top school, then your pay should cover your high debt.

Come back when you have something.

Loud and wrong, and hilariously so when it's one post after the data you're asking for. Plenty of prestigious legal jobs don't have high salaries; some schools have loan repayment assistance programs to aid people in taking those jobs anyway, but that's generally just the top few schools.

Do you need a clarification on the term “thousands” or “month”? Or both?

If you were capable of actually clicking and reading, you would see that while that $949 is based on a $113K loan balance, the average med student owes 200K, the average law student owes around 150K and the average dental student owes 292K so yes, thousands. Please do keep tripling down on being wrong

Wait till the next recession and this housing bubble when people lose their jobs. Gonna be nasty and the Feds,,,nothing they can do.The six shooter is out of bullets.

For every $10k at 4% over 10 years is about $100 per month. For $300k that’s about $3000 per month. Only doctors not practicing couldn’t budget for that…..or course many practices will pay the note for the doctors that join

So those degrees are worth it if they cannot pay them off?

Immediately after school is 4-7 years of residency making around $60K a year or $5K a month before taxes, so unsurprisingly it's not that simple

Well....patients end up paying for it

So you’re whining for the doctors and lawyers that need to pay their loans? Lol.

You know what a wise investment does (med school, law school), it pays well. They’ll be ok.

Clown.

True. All those struggling doctors. There are about 10 on my street. Things appear to be fine with them.

Also most loans for grad students are closer to 7% or 8% than 4%

I would redirect too if I were as hilariously and publicly wrong as you are right now

I have a hard time finding any sympathy for anyone entering a financial relationship with a loan company and not knowing what they would owe. Even less so people who have undergrad degrees and are capable of getting into law, medical, or dental school. They should be able to do basic math.

Yes, I'm well aware that the overwhelming sentiment on this board is "deal with it," and I have. I was responding to AV being flabbergasted that anyone might owe more than $500 a month

I’m just glad you’re so worried for all those people getting “thousands” per “month” dropped on them. How will they ever manage?

They passed kinesiology or Tort but couldn’t comprehend the future of a loan repayment in relation to their earnings.
