Maybe I was raised differently, but someone that ends of the life of an innocent person with their own foolish actions shouldn’t be allowed to sit in their expensive house playing video games. And yes, even if he is on house arrest, the only thing he should be allowed to do is sit and think about what his actions caused.
As long as he doesn't leave his house (which is the point of house arrest), who cares? He'll have plenty of time to really think about what he did in the Graybar Motel once he's convicted.

Not sure how you were raised, but I was raised with a system of law that allows bail while awaiting trial. They seem to have him on house arrest while awaiting that trial. Of all the things to be outraged per this situation, playing video games while on house arrest isn't at the top of the list.

I'll guarantee you that if you somehow found yourself on house arrest for something, you'd end up playing video games, watching television, doing crossword puzzles or reading a good book--whatever your interests and hobby preferences led you to do.

Entertainment is a privilege, not a right and you lose your rights when you take the life of another. But I guess it’s easier to let people sit at the house doing whatever they want than hold them accountable.

Accountable is called a trial, which he hasn't had, yet. Complaining about him playing video games while he waits for a trial is beyond silly.

He is accused of committing a crime, was arrested, bailed out of jail, and was ordered under house arrest until his next court appearance. There is a justice system, and he's innocent until proven guilty. You can't just hold somebody in prison without due process, and you're not supposed to confiscate property (although it happens anyway) without due process.

What should they do - turn his house into a giant padded cell for the period of time he's under house arrest?

That sounds like a great idea

These comments defending him for sitting at the house doing whatever he wants after driving drunk and killing someone are sending me into orbit. “What do you want him to do?” How about rot in jail

Lighten up Francis….Ruggs will have his day in court very soon, and will get everything he deserves for his poor judgment.

Just be patient, you’ll be able to celebrate his incarceration sooner than later.

I guess accountability and having consequences for your actions is a foreign subject to you.
Dude - he's going to be held accountable for his actions, assuming he's found guilty. That's how it works here. You're punished once you're found guilty.

You're speaking as though he's already been turned loose forever or something. Again, go to Saudi Arabia...I hear they love "holding people accountable" there, and quickly.

A basic understanding of our legal system and due process is a foreign subject to some.

I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on what constitutes accountability then

I don't know how this is hard to understand. His accountability comes in the form of being put on trial. That's how it works for everyone. If you would like to peruse the Constitution, I can direct you to some specific areas which address this issue at hand here.

It’s so much worse than that.

Why does he still get special privileges?
Any one of us would have to show up to court or be back in jail
He’s crying that his girl got hurt while the innocent woman is burning/burned alive
They blamed the first responders saying they were “slow” to put out the flames. Guess what, they wouldn’t have been needed at all had he not slammed into the car at 123 mph.

But he gets support and a pass because he’s a celebrity. The special treatment needs to end the minute they choose to commit a crime.
