oh but that "me too" movement has basically made the accused automatically guilty. you're exactly right though. it is a shame. hopefully he was able to save some money
Tell that to several young ladies in JC who couldn't get the police to even act on their reports of sexual assaults for years, so they say.
It seems I remember AJ getting a raw deal from Lyle and UT as well as the KPD.

Just so people quit making assumptionsā€¦Heā€™s doing great, has some land and a home in East, TN on the river. He has a beautiful family and has managed his finances well. I think he still has plenty of gas left in the tank to play another 3-4 years in the right scheme.

It appears the stigma of being accused of a sex crime follows one even without a trial or conviction. So much for the ā€œinnocent until proven guiltyā€ motto.

Iā€™m really glad to hear thatā€¦I didnā€™t mean to insinuate anything with my postā€¦Iā€™ve just see it too many times where athletes (often not from any fault of their own) end up with nothing left from their playing daysā€¦

I hope the dude does get plenty of other chances and makes at least the league minimum for another 3-4 yearsā€¦I always liked AJ and agree with everyone here saying he got a raw deal all around

any home by a river, in the south, can't be bad at all.

I think heā€™s referring to the former business owner in Johnson City, TN. Appears he likely raped/assaulted multiple women possibly over 30 and even possibly attempted to murder one. The JCPD supposedly had evidence of several and did nothing. Been a big story up here, the me too movement didnā€™t help those girls.

More bad news. John Kelly got cut from the Browns. Hopefully he can catch on somewhere else or get on the practice squad.

Exactly that. I should have written out Johnson City.

False accusations should reach the same penalty as whatever crime they accuse. Nobody should be able to have their life ruined by a false accusation.
AJ put himself in the situation he wound up in. Probably not guilty of a crime, but had he not made really bad decisions on the evening in question, he would not have suffered the consequences. I don't feel sorry for him but do wish him the best.

There's a difference between "false" and failure to prove beyond a reasonable doubt though, just because a jury doesn't convict (i.e. find guilt beyond a reasonable doubt) doesn't mean the person was factually innocent. I'm speaking generally. Now if you can prove it was straight up a false accusation, then I agree with you, but that's an important distinction. Our system is set up to err on the side of an innocent person not being convicted, and though it does still happen sometimes, far more people benefit in close cases from that high standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt" in being acquitted.

Excellent post. Educational and accurate IMO.

The biggest POS is the DA. He knew it was ********. Someone advised the girls to throw away their phones. When that happened, their case should have been dropped

Unproven accusations aren't necessarily false.
But sometimes they are false and some even end up admitting they lied. I havenā€™t seen many of them go to jail for it either. I agree you have to be able to prove it just like any other case. But when a person makes a false criminal accusation on someone they should be jailed themselves. In all cases folks are always innocent until proven guilty.

Maybe she passed a polygraph. Who knows?
Again, not commenting specifically on this case, but there is a reason polygraph tests are not admitted as evidence in court. They are unreliable as hell. You can learn to beat them, sociopaths can always beat them because they have no conscience, people with nervous dispositions or obsessive compulsives will fail them even if they are telling the truth. There are too many variables to put really any stock in them.

Polygraphs are still a tool used in criminal investigations, even though the results are not admissible in court.
