Houston acquires P Justin Verlander from the New York Mets and sends OF Drew Gilbert to the Mets as part of the trade package per MLB Network.

Gilbert was the 68th rated prospect in the Astros farm system.

Gilbert was the 63rd rated prospect in the Astros farm system.
63rd overall. First in Astros’ system.
Surprised, but they needed a starter really bad.

Trade deadline approaching.

If we call could pool our money, we could likely trade for the entire White Sox lineup - except Luis Roberts

Update: Mets just traded outfielder Tommy Pham to Arizona for SS Jeremy Rodriguez. This certainly helps Drew's chances.

There's a real chance he may be part of September call ups. He was expected to be called up by the Astros by many and the Mets are definitely not as deep as the Astros and are obviously out of playoff race.

As a Braves fan I hate the Mets so much. Idk if I can get his jersey now bc of this ugh
Well, Drew should be getting a jersey upgrade, at least fashion-wise.

If ever there was a baseball jersey that screamed, "Do you want fries with that, mister?"

(Suddenly, I'm craving a root beer float...)
