Well, Drew should be getting a jersey upgrade, at least fashion-wise.

If ever there was a baseball jersey that screamed, "Do you want fries with that, mister?"

(Suddenly, I'm craving a root beer float...)
That’s a promotional jersey, not the regular Hooks uniform, but yes. Does make me want to do a burger and tots!

Thanks, c-poo! I could make out a few syllables that had me wondering.

Hope you have a very satisfying football season! And thanks for helping keep us up-to-date on our base-VFLs.
What-a-burger! The name sponsor at What-a-burger Park in Corpus Christi! Most locals swear by the chain. Me, not so much. I generally prefer a hole in the wall burger 🍔 or one off the grill.

I have Texas friends that love Whataburger. I have one moving to Knoxville near me next summer and he already googled for the newest Whataburger! He might need some side trips over to Nashville.....

Need to introduce him to a couple of preferred local burger joints.

I'd read all the hoopla for years, so when I was finally over in Murfreesboro I eagerly went out of my way to try their regular burger.

??? I don't get it. It wasn't that it was a "just okay" burger, it was dry and had no distinctive flavor, even after adding their chipotle ketchup.

The "Double Mo" (half-pounder) at Fat Mo's in Columbia has become my happy meal. Flavor, texture, price, and lots of love. You definitely aren't paying for the ambiance--unless you include the folks who run the place. Very nice people. And best fish sandwich I've tasted since living in N'awlins!

I will. What are your favorites?
I’m in Houston. My personal fast food go to spots are Sholtzky’s, a New Orleans style muffalata sammich shop, and Jason’s. Jack in the Box is really convenient. Jimmy John’s and Jersey Mikes are close too. There’s a Whataburger in that three block radius too.

We have similar taste in sandwich shops. I used to eat Sholtzkys all the time when Knoxville had one. Jason's is good and I used to get the ham it up all the time when I lived in Dallas.

Just to know--and not to be a spelling nazi--are y'all talking about Schlotzky's Deli, or something different?

Late wife and I were voracious fans of Schlotzky's Deli's Reuben. Haven't found or made one better.
