just totally unbelievable. how is that possible? how can one vettel manage to pull that off, there is definately no parity there, this is beyond driver ability.

2 safety cars and 7 retirements don't hurt either.

true but first SC was 10 laps in and vettel resumed in last place again, granted it was with fresh tires. second SC helped him out a lot. main thing i was getting at, webber struggled with his car all day and somehow vettel managed to pull off a drive like that. it's mainly just because i don't like vettel and i'm just bi****ng about it but last to 4th and potentially higher should in theory be almost impossible to do, as it always has been for most drivers

I agree. Dude put in a great drive.

Thinking back, and looking forward I don't blame Lewis at all for jumping ship. I think it may be better to fight tooth and nail at Mercedes for podiums and meager points than watch as your team throws away race wins, and holds you back to try and help your slower teammate.

Unless McLaren builds a car for next year that is as dominant as last years Red Bull I don't see them winning a championship soon. That McLaren today was the fastest car in the track in Hamilton's hands, and a dog in Button's.

Button has 14 wins. Lewis has 20. They both have an equal number of podiums, and, most importantly, world championships.

Let's not get carried away thinking he is 1) head and shoulders better than his teammate and 2) deserving of all that comes with being such.

With Ferrari, there's a pecking order. With Red Bull, there's a pecking order. And in both cases, deservedly so. With McLaren, not so much. So Lewis took his ball and went somewhere else. Don't be bitter.

I was making a commentary on this season. Button has been really struggling at times this year and McLaren has held back Lewis in trying to correct them.

I think there is a lot more than ego for why Lewis left. Perhaps Lewis has learned what Prost, Alonso, and Kimi know.

The point is, Lewis hasn't done anything to warrant being the #1 driver. He doesn't deserve the teams utmost attention in spite of his teammates struggles. There is nothing that sets his apart from Jenson, other than perhaps he's a better qualifier.

how has lewis been held back to fix issues with jensons car? lewis is twice the wheel man that jenson is. also don't forget jenson button was nothing until brawn racing, or whatever they were called, had undeniably the best car on track, a la red bull the past two seasons. sure button has won a handful of races with mclaren as should any driver that's a little better than average. i just don't recall any major technical issues or anything like that has production from jenson button at such a lower level than hamilton, especially at mclaren which where there isn't a definitive #1 or #2 driver.

does the old definition of who is #1 and who is #2 still apply as far as the red and yellow t-bars? if they do then technically button is the #1.

Around Valencia the team devoted a ton of time and personnel to try and cure Button's grip issues.

I must admit I watch a few laps of the race that was on Sunday morning. That track was amazing. The surroundings and the grass around the track was awesome. Would love to go and stay at the hotel that was in or around the track.

That ain't grass. Colored high abrasion asphalt.

No wonder it looked so green.

Loved the lay out of the track with two high speed straight aways.

Yeah my mistake, I thought you referring to the colored run off area around the track.

Yeah this race was good. It is usually a stinker, but the drivers were acting foolish all around and it made for exciting racing.

Vodaphone McLaren Mercedes- McLaren is the car builder and team, Mercedes supplies the motors.

AMG Mercedes Petronas- This is the team owned completely by Mercedes. A factory team.

Sahara Force India- A team that uses Mercedes motors.

A company can field more than one team (ie, Red Bull Racing, Scuderia Toro Rosso) just so long as the two cars a re completely different. Basically they cannot have 4 Red Bull Racing cars, with them painted slightly different colors.

anyone making the trip to austin for the race? i've talked with people i know in the area and there is 0% luck of getting ahold of any tickets, free ones that is. the track looks really cool, i found this layout that really shows the elevation changes. it's better attached because it's such a huge picture
