Franchione First To Go

Forgive me for not remembering names, but there was a legend who talked to Bryant on the phone when he was at A&M, and said "Coach, if it was anywhere else in the country, i'd commit, but not College Station"

Not saying things havent changed, but is still a 2nd fiddle school, big as the budget is. Forever, they've looked up to Texas and Oklahoma, and that will remain so, the way they do business. You can't blame Fran for ditching Alabama, with the recruiting violation mess, but why go to aTm from there? If you want to talk about dirty recruiting?

BTW, Gary Barnett is campaining for SMU. I wonder what Eric (I Made $3m playing football in College){No link, just joshing}Dickerson has to say about that?

Well fellas, Ive been out of town and away from civilization for a few days, but I have to say, upon returning to Aggieland, I too heard this little peice of news and was quite glad. Tubberville will be recieved quite nicely here in College Station, and Franchonie will more than likely find a job coaching Jr. High 7th grade, B -Team football in Alabama next year. Both will find the change to be for the better. Well, Tubby might not at first, but...... Its true that aTm has been hush hush, but from an insider, I have learned that Byrne made this "leak" in a most timely fashion inorder to pacify the alums/ 12th man foundation. That being said, if my earlier prediction becomes a reality, which at this point seems logical, Major Applewhite might become the O coord here too. Head coaching jobs pending though. Somebody at some small school might get this kid as an up-and-comer. In short, it was a good return from the deer camp for me and glad to see it being discussed. Your thoughts if you care.....?

and ps,

Dear Auburn,

If you would like to trade coaches on an even scale, we will throw in some BBQ and Lone Star beer.

Regards,

Texas A and M University

J train,

I think your a little harsh on College Station and for that matter a bit naive to the fact that the times are changing. The big 12 is as screwed up this year as the sec. Example: Kansas. The heavy hitters with the exception of Oklahoma, are slowly returning back down to reality. Vince Young graduated by the way. It is slowly becoming a more balenced confrence with the usual suspects, in decline. When Kansas, and Mizzou are beating the hell outta schools and ranked, the recruiting competition is obviously evolving. K-State and aTm have been realitivly compareable. Narrow minded Aggies, unlike myself, dont like to admit that but its true. They have up years when they out do themselves, and they have years when they lose to Baylor. The job, however, is attractive. Its true they spend money here in College Station, but its not the only selling point. I think you would agree with that from interpreting your post. "Second rate and always will be", is a little over-stretched imo.

Droski-

Your wrong, College Station has trees, pretty girls, running water, and beer thats not watered down. If you are attempting to belittle the Ags because you still feel proud about that Bowl game win, your are extremly shallow. If you are picking fun at the City, you should come and stay here for a while. I think, judging by your previously observed personallity, you are a truly level headed individual that would enjoy our type of atmosphere. Aggieland is a speacial place as is most college communitites.

and lastly Justin,

2 days, 2 limits, mostly pintails, gadwalls, and widgeons. Throckmorton Texas, 30 miles west of Abiliene. 3 hours from Dallas, 6 hours from College Station, a lifetime a way from work!!:dance2:

The Auburn coach has yet to utter the words, "I won't be going to Texas A&M" yet.

-a lesson learned from Nick Saban no doubt. Good article Jake.

School man or I'd be in a duck blind somewhere right now.

Duck season opens the weekend after Thanksgiving. I have a honeyhole up here in Knoxville that is usually pretty good the first 3-4 weekends (limited out on woodies the first weekend, mallards the second weekend and then geese and mallards the third weekend last season) then I go home and hunt fields for geese and public lands for ducks.

Oh it will rain ducks and geese
