BREAKING #Vandy coach James Franklin is expected to be the next head coach at #PennState, per source

Sports Chronicle™ ‏@SportsTalkZac
"James Franklin has accepted the Penn State head coach position. News will be shared later tonight. " - Per Source inside Penn State Staff

Brett McMurphy ‏@McMurphyESPN 11m
Vandy's James Franklin expected to accept offer from Penn State today, source told @ESPN. Also reported by @BFeldmanCBS

From 247:

Here's what we're hearing as of Thursday morning.
- Rodney Erickson and Dave Joyner were in Florida yesterday to meet with James Franklin. I'm told that Penn State had entered negotiations with Franklin on Tuesday afternoon. Penn State's offer was matched by Vanderbilt, and the Nittany Lions made a hefty counter offer. The pair left Florida with signs pointing to Franklin being the next head coach at Penn State. I believe the two sides are close with Franklin's agent hammering out final details. Like I've said all week, I think Thursday is the day that it gets done.
- As we noted, Penn State made a hefty counter offer to Franklin. With that said, it's probably about as high as the Nittany Lions will go. I'm told that if things can't be worked out with Franklin for whatever reason, Penn State will move on and make an offer on Friday to Al Golden.
I still expect something to get done today.
Feldman is usually money. Plus multiple sources are reporting this. Should only be a matter of time before it's announced.

He's a Pennsylvania guy and when you compare PSU resources to Vandy... it's no question.

VandyMania is in meltdown.

And the funniest part, their main article is "Why James Franklin will stay at VU this year".

LOL.

Vandys flash of success is definitely over now. They will now go back to being the doormat of the sec.

I'm sure Clay Travis is heart broken his lover is leaving.

That will be the single best thing to come out of this. I didn't care if Frank left or not. Once Butch got our roster back in order, it didn't matter who was there. Watching their meltdown, especially considering how a lot of their posters have posted outright lies about some of our players over the years, is going to be classic.

Their recruiting classes are going to tankkk the next couple of years regardless of who they hire. There are like...13 people in Nashville highly ticked off right now.

Unconfirmed reports of Travis wearing a PSU jacket and looking at homes in State College.

It's the smart move for Franklin. Vandy peaked when the SEC East was at a low point. Losing in the recruiting game, losing key players like Jordan Matthews, and now losing their Coach at a critical time portends not good things for VU's future.
