Freak's night before the Missouri game admittedly off topic thread

Not really, lol. That's more the imitators (like I wouldn't call Panera, deli food...though they are closer than Newks since they also have bagels).

When you get to a big city that's got a good deli and you have some...there's just no comparison.

It's why we always stop by a Goldberg's when we're in Atlanta.

Deli food's terrible for you...but amazing.

Newks > McCallisters.

Ive been to a "real" deli in New York and in New Orleans, some place that i think was on Man vs Food or one of those type of shows. And when you said Goldberg's, you didn't mean Mama Goldberg's did you? Lol

There was one in east Memphis when I was going to dental school. They've got a little of everything. Kind of comparable to Mcallisters

I've been to one in Memphis (it actually replaced a Bennigan's - sp?- where my parents had their first breakfast date).

It's not bad, but like I said earlier as someone who likes deli food - good deli food - Newk's doesn't seem like it's the same thing (reminds me of cafeteria-like places or "soup or salad" restaurants more)

Nice, where'd you go New Orleans. I went to one with family when I was touring Tulane but that was years ago. I've been to a few in New York...Katz's sticks out as one I remember (Had what she's having :p) plus one in time square

Lol, um not sure. It's this place; I don't think they're the same thing, but I don't know

It's really good.

No that's not Mama Goldberg's, that place looks good.

The place in NO was called Mother's Restaurant. I guess its not really a deli. They are known for the world's best baked ham and these Po Boys packed with ham and roast beef and their slaw and gravy.

Fair point, I maybe haven't been to McCallisters enough to give it a fair chance. When in St. Louis, there were better options (same with Italian)

They had a deal going on Memorial Day I believe where Active Duty in uniform got a free sandwich. We got some extras tossed in our order which happened to be one of the pot roast ones. I was impressed

It really is. There are a bunch around Atlanta; if you're ever in the city, you should definitely go. I very much recommend it :)

Oh yeah, Mother's! I went there I think; yeah it was on Man vs Food.

New Orleans food's delicious...
