Thompson did make a good point about that last night. If he's so late to the party then why is he polling 2nd or 3rd?

I'm still not sure what to make of him.

Because the base is desperate for someone different. Odd how a guy with more connections to the 'evils' the base hates the most is riding so high in the polls. He's a lobbyist, Hollywood actor, and trial lawyer. He's yet to announce any positions but yet people are banking on him. People have yet to vett him on his past but yet they're willing to say they support him. It's a scary day when the unknown candidate who has really fizzled in everything else besides polls to date is 'doing well'.

I'm sure you know why he is appealing. The current field is populated by moderate frontrunners and conservatives who right now appear unelectable. Thompson may not be the Reagan conservative he is trying to be, but he has instant traction because a lot of conservatives find him palatable and electable which is a pretty strong combination.

Personally I'd like to see Mike Huckabee pick up some support so I won't have to make a decision on Thompson, but I'm not sure he has quite the charisma to make people believe he can lead.

When a candidate with no announced platform, no charisma, poor fundraising ability, and not a great past is 'appealing', the party has set itself up for a big letdown.

Well you can tell a lot about a candidate by looking at their campaign inner circle and its actions. From everything I've seen with Fred's group nothing good can be said. It's a revolving door with staff. The ones leaving have nothing positive to say. It appears Fred's wife is another version of Hillary. She apparently strong arms people into doing what she thinks is good. Most people have either walked on their own or were sent packing.

Spencer Abraham is not a good man to have at the top. He's a CAIR fan and was for open borders. Add to that the Religious Right has now backed off endorsing Fred because he's taking a states' rights approach to the marriage and abortion issue. Those groups want amendments to the Constitution and more federal involvement. Fred says leave it to the states. Leaving it to the states equates to allowing abortion and gay marriage/civil unions to possibly exist within states who are for any. The Religious Right will not be too keen on that arrangement. Since this group is the one looking for a candidate and Fred's already alluded to being counter to their positions they might either have to support the lesser of the multiple evils or just take their ball and go home.

Let's get one thing straight . . . Fred Thompson's wife is a lot hotter than Hillary.

I don't think anyone would disagree there

Hillary's looks are not what caused problems during Clinton's Administration. Apparently Jeri's aren't either. Frankly, I'd put up with Eleanor Roosevelt if it means she keeps out of where she doesn't belong.

So as long as she's hot, you're willing to have her run the show no different than what Hillary did? Co-Presidents here we come....

Her appeal is definitely a lot more perplexing. That woman has got to have one of the worst deliveries imaginable.

Most people in Clinton's inner circle at Little Rock knew Hillary was a lesbian. That's why their marriage worked and she permitted his infidelity.

I think if she get's the nomination it will come out. It will hurt her campaign.

Ron Paul makes some good points, but when he speaks for more than 15 seconds at a time it becomes apparent that he espouses a libertarian concept that he has no idea how he would implement.

I can think of worse reasons to vote for somebody. :p

So you don't mind having a non-elected, non-confirmed person having access to things they shouldn't including FBI files on opponents? Or what about having people fired when they have no business doing so? Or for those conspiracy types what about having people killed?

Doesn't bother me one bit as long as there's cleavage involved.
