Barnes isn’t huge on who starts, a lot of times it’s not who plays most minutes as you alluded to in your post. Phillips may not start, don’t think it’s even close to being decided, but he will play starter minutes imo.Love to hear it! Do you know if Phillips will start at the first of the year? Im assuming whether he starts or not, he will get close to starter minutes or am I wrong?
Speaking of Phillips, to us he looks like the most gifted of all the freshman five-stars that Barnes has landed in his time here. That’s because of a few things. He’s a gifted athlete. He’s a legit 6-foot-8 with a ‘plus’ wing span. He’s pretty polished offensively for a freshman and he brings the mental approach to playing defense that is rare for a first year player.
Yes it is. If he’s back it’s due to a bad injury or a subpar season. It’s not that deep. Most NBA mocks just mock kids based on their HS rankings with the foreign eligible kids sprinkled in. Also at this time in the year, both Springer and Keon were mocked higher than I’ve seen Phillips listed so far. So projecting him at this point as a better pro prospect based on his NBA draft projection doesn’t exactly add up for you.
Back to your original post and my original question to you that you’ve totally danced around: what is the hype? Just that he is one and done? And if he comes back it will be an indictment on a bad season? That’s just not true at all.
This... idk why he doesn't understand this.Yes it is. If he’s back it’s due to a bad injury or a subpar season. It’s not that deep.
Nope. Oscar’s size/game doesn’t project to the NBA. Not a good comparison at all.
He is. That’s why he’s back at Kentucky this season rather than putting his name in the draft.Maybe..... but here is a guy that does not agree with you.

Bet he is not alone.
Actually he's likely to get better money this year at Kentucky than he would have in the NBA. He wasn't projected as a draft pick, so he likely would have ended up with a two way contract, fighting for a reserve roster spot. He's not like Peyton, who was a consensus #1 pick who could choose to turn down the chance of being drafted by a bad organization.Could be he wanted to move up into the big money after a second solid year. Guess Peyton had a different plan too. Just getting drafted is not everybody's goal.

NBAdraft.net late had him.......
However, in the latest update from ESPN, Tshiebwe is rising up the charts as he is now projected to be the 43rd-overall pick going to the Charlotte Hornets.
Lol. If Julian Phillips was NPOTY he would be the #1 or 2 overall pick in the draft.NBAdraft.net late had him.......

It is nice that the Vols play a big boy schedule prior to the SEC. Phillips is matching up well. Wow - Louisville is winless this season. How long will they put up with that? Hatfield got bad advice but I don't think his work ethic could mesh with Rick - I bet he transfers again in a year or so. Just a nomad - headed for a lower level European team or China. It would be nice to see 2 years out of Phillips and see how he improves.
