Freshman Quarterbacks

He did do a good job. But when talking about freshman QBs, they rarely succeed. And it's even more rare that they succeed early in the season. So when people talk about freshman not being able to play year 1, that's what they mean.

Reed has had 4+ months of preparation and doing this day in and day out. Credit to him for playing well, but this isn't the norm.
I will have to agree with that, it's not the norm.

I wouldnt say zero TD's and a pick is "lighting up a defense" that was probably in a bend but dont break mode. Yards mean nothing without the TD going with it. That just shows the defense is probably playing a tampa 2, and when the field gets shorter, the windows get smaller, and completions get harder.

Now 6 TD's with the same # of attempts IS lighting up a defense. Moss is a sophomore.

Reed has been running scout team all season. I doubt he's had much if any real reps until a few weeks ago. Starter was hurt on the 1st play I believe.

You are talking about a freshman that spent the entire season with A&M before making a start against an OK St defense that ranked 90th overall. That is not the same as starting a freshman after 2 months of college ball and throwing him up against SEC defenses ranked inside the top 40.

Also, 2 very highly touted freshman QBs took significant starting QB reps this year in Jaden Rashada and Dante Moore. Neither one looked very good.
I guess that is why we did not recruit them very hard.

With EE allowing players the ability of being around the previous year’s bowl prep, spring practice, and working out all summer, along with this season’s practice, Freshmen are more like sophomores used to be. Still tuff but basically a whole year under their belt.
On another topic, did I hear Moore is coming back next year to be the backup to Nico?

Dont know, but I hope so.
