Friction at Ohio State?

For some reason I see him waiting a year then either replacing Malzahn at Auburn or going West like when he was at Utah and trying some job out there. Of course there is always the never ending will he go to where his book said his dream job was in Notre Dame? The Auburn thing is what I would watch. The SEC loves recycled winners in this league.

I dont see ND getting rid of Kelly unless the wheels just come off. Auburn? He ran from Saban once, I highly doubt he comes back to the SEC. Plus, I believe Malzahan has a huge buyout. i mean its possible that he would be done with coaching all together.

he may take a pass at the NFL. none of the recruiting shenanigans.

He sure does and I thought they were stuck with him for atleast two more years. But the more I read the more I think he's a dead coach walking huge buyout and all.

I don't see him at ND because I don't think Kelly is going anywhere soon. Auburn seems like a obvious choice but he doesn't want to compete against Saban again....I agree with a earlier post that he heads out West. Somewhere like USC, K-State or maybe even back at Utah if it comes open.

He's lucky though because he can get back in people's good graces with a big year next year or the year after that. The huge buyout buys him some time.

Not sure you read the tweet? Auburn insiders saying the buyout size isn't going to stop them from making a change even if it's this year.

I actually seen another story saying if he loses to Ole Miss he would probably be let go immediately following. Ofcourse that's old news considering they won but looking at his remaining schedule they look like their record will be 6-6.

The tweet is blocked by my company, so no. I don't think they fire him after this year unless they lose to Liberty. If he finishes 6-6 I think he remains but enters 2019 on a thermonuclear hot seat that he can only cool off by going 11-1 or winning the West.

Malzahn is always like this. one good/great year followed up by a bad, followed by a good/great
He only has teams that live up to their potential when he gets elite (not simply really good, but elite) QB play. If he gets anything less than that, the entire team fails to live up to expectations. Auburn also is a lot like Tennessee used to be in that they seem to play a lot better when expectations are relatively low. Their 2010 and 2013 national title runs came out of absolutely nowhere. They weren't expected to make the SECCG game last year but did. Meanwhile, expectations were high in 2014 and 2015 (preseason #6 both years) and those were really disappointing seasons. In 2016 when expectations were fairly modest and a lot of people expected him to be fired because they weren't expected to be good, they finished a somewhat surprising 8-5 and made the Sugar Bowl because Butch Jones is an idiot.

I don't know for sure, but Gus's body language a lot of the time seems nervous, fidgety, and uptight during games, and when expectations and pressure are high I think teams, especially of college kids, pick up on that. I'm also beginning to think it isn't a coincidence that he only has great years when he gets great play from a transfer QB (Cam, Nick Marshall, Stidham).

They must have come to this decision when they gave him the new contract and massive payout after him flirting with being ran last year before UGA and Bama. Its hard to go from one extreme to the other and then back to your original extreme without being open to anything and everything.

Oh gotcha. Here's what it said. It was an interview with Finebaum and Marcello is the senior editor at Auburn 24/7.

I'm not ruling out a change at the end of the season even though he (Malzahn) has a contract that has at least 38 million dollars in buyout money...from what I've been told, there's not much concern there when it comes to the money" - @bmarcello

I can't stand Urban but he's done fine against Saban.

Does anybody doubt if he was winning championships left and right at OSU he wouldn’t have this medical “issue”?

Yeah he has a cyst on his brain which sucks and we all hope he can get it figured out. In the meantime do y’all really think he don’t resign at season’s end?? I’m inclined to think he gives it serious thought and decides to take time away from football for a year or 2 to figure stuff out and recharge and maybe coach again in 2021...what I’m thinking...
