How many folks will be in Knoxville on Friday night? Perhaps we should congregate and watch the Vols and UNC in the NIT final.

Not that anyone really cares, but I'm in town this entire week and will most likely be attending the UK game on Saturday.

Definitely interested. It will be a hectic week catching up with everybody, but I'm confident I can find 2 hours for that! :)

If I am actually in town Friday night, I might have to take the opportunity to pick you brain, concerning college hoops, for a couple hours.

...assuming either or both of them make it. I've had this potential game on my radar for about a week now.

Tennessee certainly isn't losing to Butler and I would be stunned if Gonzaga beat the Heels.

You're pretty confident we will win hat. Do you think we are that much better than ND and Indy, or that Butler's magic will wear off, or another reason? Butler seems to be a good matchup for us, though I expect a whole lot of turnovers on both sides.

1. I think Notre dame is terrible.
2. Indiana has mediocre talent led by a mentally deficient coaching staff.
3. This Butler team isn't nearly as good as some they've had in the last decade.
4. Their lack of depth will be exposed in this game. Neither ND or IU play a style that would exploit their lack of numbers.

The Tarheels are incredibly talented, but they're also very young. They are playing a lot of freshmen. While I think they'll beat Gonzaga, it wouldn't shock me if they lost that game. In February or March, I think the Tarheels will be able to beat Gonzaga senseless.

I wouldn't chalk up Butler as a guaranteed victory either. While I agree that UT should win the game, Butler is a better team than most people think. They beat a very talented Tarheels team in the NCAA tournament in the mid-to-late 90's.

I agree that we should have a UT/UNC matchup next Friday, but I wouldn't consider it a given by any stretch of the imagination.

Do you think any of our newcomers/freshmen will be intimidated by MSG and the atmosphere or do you think they will continue to progress?

Definitely. Wright and Hansborough will be tough to matchup with Bradshaw and Crews/Chism. Our only chance is if we pull a Texas 05 and Lofton and Smith go off.

I remember Butler beating Louisville. I remember Weber State beating UNC. I don't remember Butler beating UNC.

Every team left in the NIT has some experience issues. I don't think the setting will be a major factor.

...and they will have their opportunity to do so too. If there is one thing that consistently drives me crazy about watching the Tarheels play, it's that they never, ever extend their defense to prevent someone from raining 3-pointers all over them. It will be an interesting matchup. The Tarheels will own the paint, and UT should have a ton of good looks from 3-point range.

On a side note, the Maui field is loaded as usual. Should be some great games starting tomorrow.

Hat, what about Bradshaw dunking earlier tonight? I never thought I'd hear about that. He had a decent line, though it was against poor competition. Still not a stalwart by any stretch of the imagination, but a good "intangibles" guy.
