Friends in Low Places at the end of 3rd is the worst.

lol… It’s a song about the music business.
I saw him open twice..live…and I KNOW it’s “supposed to be” about the “record biz”…
But…conventional wisdom and prevalent thought is otherwise…

My point stands!

After big plays we sing a song celebrating moonshine and Appalachian anarchy. Thought and wisdom don’t exist at football games lol.

What about this Tennessee boy who says it more real than most stuff that comes out of Nashville. No, it ain't Sunday go to church music but neither is Rocky Top.

EXACTLY!!! East Tennessee Heritage at its BEST! Just like Chesney's "Back Where I Come From"

Well, in the town where I was raised
The clock ticks and the cattle graze
Time passed with amazing grace
Back where I come from

Now you could lie on a riverbank
Or paint your name on a water tank
Or miscount all the beers you drank
Back where I come from

Back where I come from
Where I'll be when it's said and done
Well, I'm proud as anyone
That's where I come from

We learned in a Sunday school
Who made the sun shine through
I know who made the moonshine too
Back where I come from

Blue eyes on a Saturday night
Tan legs in the broad daylight
TV's they were black and white
Back where I come from

Back where I come from
Where I'll be when it's said and done
Well, I'm proud as anyone
That's where I come from

Some say it's a backward place
Narrow minds on the narrow way
But I make it a point to say
That's where I come from

That's where come from
Where I'll be when it's said and done
Well, I'm proud as anyone
That's where I come from

Back where I come from
I'm an East Tennessean
(I'm proud) well, I'm proud as anyone
That's where I come from

Kenny Chesney always reminds me of this Mike Cooley lyric:

”He was the first born, got ten fingers and ten toes
And it's a damn good thing 'cause he needs all 20 to keep the closet door closed”

My vote goes for Tennessee Jed. Maybe my favorite Greatful Dead song. That's saying a lot because I love the dead

My vote goes for - drum roll - no song at all. Have the Pride play something. Show some more UT Medical Center commercials or something. I don't care. Just spare us from the forced sing-a-longs to so-and-so's favorite song. I don't need another manufactured tradition, I just want to watch the ball game.

A truly novel concept, I know.

So what is the 3Q song this season? A few suggestions I haven't read yet:

Coming in the Air Tonight- Phil Collins

Brothers in Arms- Dire Straits

Blaze of Glory- Bon Jovi

Switchin to Glide- The Kings

Tennessee River- Alabama

I do think Smokey Mountain Rain would be ideal or Back Where I Come From

Anything but Garth.

Blaze of glory is basically a song about losing

I’ve said it before, copperhead road and touch the fireworks off one time at 19 seconds when the bass drum hits. Play the song and you’ll see what I mean.
LOL People complain about boycotting Garth and Budlight, and you want to use a song written and performed by a self proclaimed socialist?

Went to a Colts game last year and they have this massive anvil up in the party deck area.
3rd quarter they have a guest 'anvil hammer' ring the anvil while they play the first minute to minute and a half of Hells Bells.
It was pretty cool.

Not sure it would work here at UT, but cool nonetheless.

I'll say it AGAIN...

THIS should be played INSTEAD of that Okie song...it took place in Neyland...Gibbs High Graduate...it "hits Home"...it's an actual "sing-a-long'...the lyrics fit a true East Tennessean...lasts 4:45 seconds which is perfect timing...it ends with a guy in a Power T hat...and it FEATURES "The Sheriff"...

Imagine THIS on EACH Jumbotron...

I asked chat gpt to solve this problem for us. Here’s the results

Sure! Here are the lyrics:

Verse 1:

Orange and white, we’re ready to fight,
Standing strong with all our might,
Rocky Top, we hear your call,
Volunteers, we’ll give our all!

Chorus:

Hey, Vols! Let’s go!
Raise your voices, let it show,
From the mountains to the plains,
We’ll bring the thunder, we’ll bring the flames!

Verse 2:

In Neyland Stadium, we stand tall,
With the pride that’s known to all,
Every play, every down,
We’ll wear that victory crown!

Chorus:

Hey, Vols! Let’s go!
Raise your voices, let it show,
From the mountains to the plains,
We’ll bring the thunder, we’ll bring the flames!

Bridge:

With our hearts, we cheer for thee,
Tennessee, our loyalty,
Win or lose, we stand as one,
Till the battle’s fought and won!

Chorus:

Hey, Vols! Let’s go!
Raise your voices, let it show,
From the mountains to the plains,
We’ll bring the thunder, we’ll bring the flames!

Outro:

Orange and white, together we fight,
Volunteers, we’ll shine so bright,
As the fourth quarter begins to start,
We’ll cheer with all our heart!
