From a Sooner Fan, a perspective ahead of the game

Some additional "visitor" info...

I'd suggest parking at the Lloyd-Noble Center (LNC) as the Sooner fan suggested and take the shuttle. But beware, traffic going out is pretty bad (only two lane roads coming into and off campus) regardless of where you park. But if you park at the LNC, you can jump on Highway 9 just south of the LNC and get back on 35 easily enough... relatively speaking.

If you are inclined, you can also walk to the stadium and back to the LNC as it's a straight shot up and down Jenkins or Asp Ave, but it's close to a mile. Still have traffic to worry about though.

But...

If you happen to make some Vol friends at Sooner Village (the RV/camper lot on the back side of the LNC by the Tennis Complex), you can wait traffic out. The last time the Vols were in Norman, there was a pretty significant contingent of Vol fans that brought out their campers and RVs. Nice place to enjoy the after game when we win and wait out traffic while meeting fellow Vol fans.

Gate 1 at the stadium is the "visitor" gate where the Vols will do the Vol Walk. Though it's on the opposite side of the stadium from the visitor team seating section (depending on where your seats are) which means you'll have to go around the entire venue to the back side if you use that gate and your tickets are visitor section.

Despite being a visitor and them saying you have to enter Gate 1, you can enter any gate. I'd suggest on the east side going in Gate 9 in the middle of the stadium. Or Gate 6 if on the North or Gate 4 on the Northwest. Gate 1 can be used, but it does get backed up pretty bad as there is a shuttle drop off.

Avoid Gate 7 and 11/12. Very long lines. Plus, Gate 7 is where the OU Band comes in along with the schooner and horses.

Be prepared for outrageous concession prices like most places. I'd personally pregame the hell out of it at a tailgate and be selective when buying anything. Levy Concessions sucks.

Clear bag policies are strictly enforced. I'd advise against anything other than a clear bag. (and not a clear backpack or fanny pack)

Metal detectors are in use... like most places. Have everything ready to go when you arrive.

Bathroom lines are horrible. Especially at halftime. The concourse is packed and not easy to navigate during halftime. The south fan deck is likely your best place for refreshments and bathrooms.

The OU band will play the UT alma mater when the game concludes (or they have in the past at least). It's a nice thing they do for visiting teams since there isn't enough seating for the Pride of the Southland. It's worthy of sticking around and they do a good job. It'll be in the south endzone near the home team tunnel I believe.

Don't insult Toby Keith... the man is royalty out there. It would be like a Sooner fan coming into Neyland and insulting Dolly.

There's are pretty decent pregame festivities that goes on in the courtyard north of the stadium between Gates 6 and the Field House. Live bands and whatnot. It's a good place to hang out pre-game if you don't have a tailgate to go to.

Game Day presentation is on the South Oval west of the stadium behind the college of architecture.

Tailgate parties are on Lindsey, Jenkins and Brooks. It's a lively scene for sure. Most folks are hospitable though.

It's gonna be hot... make use of the cool zones in the venue if needed.

I worked in that stadium for seven years for every home game. If you have other questions, let me know.

Why are so many sooner fans coming here lately go back to rivals or whatever you'll never be SEC
Very poor response to a classy post from a visitor. In case you didn't read the post, he is speaking from an OU fan that was a big fan of our coach. Whatever your opinion of the additions to the conference, show some decency.

OU Fan here. Looking for a great game this Saturday.
I wanted to let Vols fans know that OU fans LOVE Josh Heupel. He will receive a very warm welcome, and so will the Vols fans coming to Norman. OU fans are very freindly and respect Tennessee as a premier program and university. Should be a great atmosphere.

If OU has to lose to a team , losing to Josh and Tennessee is fathomable for many OU fans like me. The bitter taste of Heupel being let go by stoops and the lincoln riley experiment has exacerbated what a mistake bob stoops made. You are lucky to have Josh. I root for the vols all the time when they play Bama , Georgia and the others.

Now back to the game.
The Vols have the better team , period. OU's defense is the highlight and will pressure Nico for a while , but will get tired by the second half as the offense is still at a rebuilding stage. The offense cannot run or sustain drives.
The QB, Jackson Arnold has been a disappointment !! As a 5 star signee ,with all the hype and the NIL money , he has not delivered or progressed as planned. Many including myself think OU made a mistake letting dillon gabriel go to oregon and starting Jackson Arnold. I think the Vols defense will feast on Jackson Arnold. His running won't beat a vaunted defense like Tennessee. Jackson Arnold may not finish the game as the QB.

I am expecting a Tennesse win around 35- 24

Please beat Alabama and Georgia next and win it all !!

Best of luck and enjoy the game and Norman .
Shouldn’t be so hard on Arnold. New offense, new line, new OC are all tough on a young QB. He has a lot of talent & will be great in time. I just hope it ain’t Sat night.

We have more than our share of idiots; just ignore them as they are in the minority.
As to Toby Keith, love that guy. Haven't been to Winstar in about 6 months but always ate at the Toby Keith restaurant, good food. Hope they haven't closed it. Winstar for those that don't know it is on the TX/OU border north of Ft worth off I-35 just across the Red River, billed as the world's largest Casino--it's 1 1/2 miles inside from one end to the other.

I have a good friend who is a retired paramedic like me. We both used to work for the fire department in Chattanooga. We used to work medical for games in Neyland on a regular basis. Shockingly, he few up as a Sooner fan.

He's pulling for your guts tomorrow night.
I told him I would forgive him...

...but maybe later. 😁😁😁

Thanks for your post. I tend to concur.
I've never been to a Gabe in Norman but I've heard lots of good things about your fan base.

Fellow VFL'S....make no mistake, OU has been looking forward to this game also. They will be loud, ESPN Game Day will be there, Nico first true away game, & Heupel history. Just asking to not take this as a gimmie and don't believe the media. This could be a task.

With that said, always and forever,

GBO
