we could have easily pulled out a victory had we capitolized on the 1 yard line/ 4th and 6.

Again, I respectfully disagree. HAD you capitalized on that drive, there would have been more time on the clock and UT would not have had to settle for a field goal.

Gatorjosh, :moon2: You started to stop our running game because Houston reinjured is ankle but Riggs still ran great. The gator's sure couldn't stop Shaeffer running! :rocks:

Replay stinks and kills the flow of the game. Crappy calls make the rivalry go round.

I agree with GatorJosh in that I don't think that we clearly outplayed the Gators. It was a pretty even game imo. And believe me I have seen several years where the Vols have outplayed the Gators and still lost.

There is only one year that I can think of when we outplayed them and they beat us, and that was in 2000. Honestly, most of the times they beat us, they beat us pretty fair and square.

Anyway, nice to see you over here Josh. Tell your boy ccurle over there to lay off the stuff and stop worrying so much about UT. He seems to have a real complex with the right color of orange. :D

He was probably referring to the years in which we outplayed them in terms of yardage, but turnovers (which are part of the game) aided the Florida wins...

1991 - Fla 35, Tenn 18
Vols had 441 yards of total offense, Gators had 360.

1993 - Fla 41, Tenn 34
Vols had 431 yards of total offense, Gators had 387.

1996 - Fla 35, Tenn 29
Vols had 501 yards of total offense, Gators had 304.

1997 - Fla 33, Tenn 20
Vols had 398 yards of total offense, Gators had 355.

But two years in a row, the Vols had victory snatched from them.... once due to bad offensive play calling and the other by the officials...

1999 - Fla 23, Tenn 21
The Vols were at midfield needing only about 15 yards to get in field goal range to win the game. However, suspect play calling kept the Vols from gaining 1-yard in 3 plays to keep the drive alive.

2000 - Fla 27, Tenn 23
The Gators came into Neyland Stadium and despite being outplayed in every statistical category, the Gators left with a win on a controversial touchdown call.

Very similar to the 9-win streak the Vols had against the Georgia Bulldogs. Some of those games, the Dawgs outplayed the Vols, but Tennessee still won. Remember when Andre Hastings fumbled in Vol territory at the end of the game?

Getting back to Florida, I am very thankful that the Vols have been able to put together a string of successful games against them. 1998, 2001, 2003, & 2004 were wins. 1999 & 2000 could have very easily been wins. For awhile there, it seemed the Vols self-destructed with turnovers, etc.

allvol, I understand where the comment may have come from. In most of those games noted, however, UT imo, did not outplay UF. alot of those yards were gained in a comeback mode.

Also, you could say that it was bad playcalling, sloppy play, and terrible officiating that cost us the 99 game.
