The bowl game have become nothing more than freshmen scrimmage games for next season due to so many players leaving for the NFL or the portal. And the teams that have the best talent ( SEC teams) will be playing with more freshmen and 2nd string players than some other conference teams like Iowa that has less talented players opting out for the NFL. How much bragging can a team do when they beat a team that is a shell of their regular season team.
So no "Vols by fiddy"?

Bunch of sissy ass cowards at TN.. scared to face hard hitting hawks.

Iowa has been my 2nd favorite team for years. I love UT, but I like Iowa only because they have upset teams I do not like. The narrative that UT has not seen "hard-hitting teams" in the SEC is ludicrous. Will the transfers hurt UT? I don't see why it wouldn't; talent will only get you so far, and experience with talent will win games. I have no clue how this game will end; too many losses on the defensive side....we'll see.

My observation of B1G fans over the years is they all seem to believe their teams are more physical than other teams and they can't play with them. However their record, at least against SEC teams, do not support that belief, nor will it Monday.

I can assure you Iowa fans, you are physical I'm sure, but not anymore than AL, GA, etc. Vols will not be intimidated by that factor.

The point...since you missed it, is Iowa has been a better, more consistent program than ours over the last 10 years and they have been churning out more NFL talent than we have. The snicker over them not having hold outs because their players aren't good enough for the draft is unfounded based on the evidence. Do you think that just suddenly stopped THIS year?

I haven’t checked this but it sure sounds like the truth. My generation (President Coolidge) has always respected the Iowa footbal program and the rest of the Big 10. And a few of their fans mouthing off here before our game doesn’t bother me at all; our fans (a very loud and obnoxious few) have embarrassed me over the years more times than I can count.

Volnation, these boys are quite capable of whipping our butts and embarrassing us. Let’s show them some respect until we prove to them that we can do the same thing to them. Then, shake hands and go back to our own football worlds.

Just clarifying that Iowa will be as much at full strength as they can be (minus the injuries).

Things what concerns me the most. You should have an experienced cohesive group. I expect the Vols have more athleticism and raw talent but we will have to limit mistakes to have success, which will be challenging given our roster turnover.

I’m not saying anything. I’ve seen far too many bowl games where the team doesn’t even give a damn to play in the game. Regular season and healthy Tennessee would kill Iowa.

With what we have left I think they’re still going to win but I have no idea what pass protection will be like. I have no idea what Nico will play like. If I’m Iowa I’m sending pressure every play though until he burns me once.

My concern is that our offense stalled playing those teams. They both beat us. How will our offense play against Iowa's stout defense? My hope is that we connect on a few long passes to loosen them up and then play our running game well enough to execute a balanced offense the way Coach designs it to work. If the offense avoids penalties, turnovers, and drops, Tennessee wins. Our defense should keep Iowa's point score low, but our offense has to play well enough to win. Our players will not back off or quit, no matter how many breaks go against them, but the ratio of well executed plays to mistakes will determine the outcome. Nothing new, here.

It is interesting the amount of players for Tennessee opting out and transferring. Meanwhile KF and Iowa are showing up, committed and ready to play.

The B1G, it just means
Guys are transferring because they are upperclassmen that got recruited over. RB and QB opting out because they don’t want to get injured in an exhibition game that could cost them millions of dollars and their decisions were supported by our coaches and fans.
I assure you, our players aren’t scared.
