This is sobering. If TN piles up losses early in the season during the brutal strech will the team fall apart before getting to the more winnable games at the end of the year?

And times are going to get tough. In a six-week period Tennessee will play Oregon, Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Alabama. Dooley is the third head coach at Tennessee in three years. The players, who are rightfully a little shell-shocked, have bought into Dooley’s way of doing things. What happens if the losses start to pile up?

Might be Carolina's best year record wise, but i think the East comes down to Florida/Georgia this year. Georgia should have been better than what they were last year and i think they'll be better this year. If there is a dark horse in the east i'd say it's Georgia. Georgia/Carolina game will determine who challenges for the East. It's still Florida right now though..

South Carolina's gonna do what they do every year: win 6 outta their first 7 and then maybe one more when Spurrier implodes on his QB. Rich (UF) get richer while the poor (USClite) get stuck holding the gas pump...

I suspect they'll have a couple of losses before that with games against UGA, Auburn and Bama in the first 5 weeks

I think it come down to FL and GA this year as well (unfortunately for me UGAs recent track record against FL is not promisint). It is not because I am a homer it is because these two teams will both be returning all or most of their starting offensive linemen. Football is won in the trenches and that is why these two are the favorites for me.

Now I know that USC returns their OL also but if they dont have the talent to play it will not help them.

look for georgia to be tough this year. the natives are getting awful restless in athens and mark richt seat is starting to get warm. this year he can't blame it on martinez. he may be like fulmer, doing his best work when his butt is on the line.

As a Florida fan, I need us to be good this year and try to keep this thing rolling. I think we will end up going 9-3 but with a little luck can win the East. I just don't see South Carolina winning the East playing UF and Alabama this year............

99gator, we can't sleepwalk to ATL. Doesn't work that way bro. i wish it did because i get sick and tired of all the challenges we face every freaking year. i wish it was the 90's where i knew we would win every SEC game, or at worse lose only one.

i just posted the link from what tony barnhardt (a respected pundit) wrote.

i have nothing to do with this.

if you want my opinion, if john brantley stays healthy and is half as good as i think he is.......florida will have an easier time winning the East than Alabama will winning the West.

and yes, i think alabama is the superior team.

but, the gap between florida and the rest of the SEC East is vast.

Quit acting like a butthurt whiner when someone takes a shot at you as a Gator fan. This is the same crap you pull on the OTHER UT message board. The fact that you troll 2 (!) message Tennessee message boards, at least, tells me all I need to know.

You set yourself up by virtue of being on this site. Don't get all defensive and act like you are only providing Vol fans a great service by posting articles about your team being picked to win. I know it's about the SEC but your intention is transparent.

it will be hard to post any article written about the SEC East for the next two or three years without having "transparent intentions".

at the current moment in time, things are the way they are.

as a heads up, be careful this summer.

the sporting news, athlon, lindy's and several other publications will hit the shelves in about a month. those publications may have transparent intentions. avoid them. don't read or listen to tony barnhardt, chris low, ivan maisel, paul finebaum, mark schlabach, pat forde, or several other noted college football pundits. they are evil people sent by the devil to say bad things about tennessee and good things about schools tennessee hates.

Can we move this thread to "Around the NCAA" now that it got overtaken and has very little said about UT

I think Florida is going to be easier to beat early in the year rather than later.....but I am really curious to see this pro-style approach to offense from them....it should be interesting since Tebow left, right, and up the middle was 85% of their offense last year.
