... about half of these bowl games end up being a net $ loss to the schools playing in them ... not sure 6 or 7 win teams are being done alot of favors playing in the Brake-O Brakes Bowl in Weedowee, Alabama other than filling about 3.5 hours of broadcast time on a tv channel ...

I guess getting shelacked by Oregon was our bowl game. Same is likely with Oklahoma next year. Maybe we'll have enough bricks laid to get to Shreveport by 2015?

When we're good enough to beat Vandy we can go to a bowl game again.

Yes. But I am for dropping the Oregon's and Oklahoma's from the schedule for a few years until we get our feet back.

We play both OU and Utah State next year....OU on the road. Making it tougher on ourselves than we need to ....

Outside of a Bowl in Hotlanta or Nashvegas, how many of you FANZ would have "traveled" to Florida or somewhere farther to "cheer" for a 6 Win Team.

Outside of the BCS Bowls, teams probably lose money going to them. UT will probably make more money by staying home and getting their SEC split - previously called the Vandy Plan!!

The ONLY thing that can be said for the Poulan Weedeater Bowls of the World is a few more weeks of practice and that's about it.

I think many bowls are profitable....it's only the lowest tier that are not. Of course, that's where we would have been this year. Obviously the practice is very useful.

Personally, I would have loved going to to a bowl because most of the lowest tier (BBVA in Bham, Liberty in Mempiss, and Music City in Nashville) are all an easy day's drive from me and I have not been to a bowl since the Sugar in 1990. Would love to go again...someday. :cray:

whats done is done but nobody else in the conference is going out of their way to schedule a guaranteed loss ooc. Buy out the OK game and maybe we get to a bowl next year.

Florida does play FSU every year. Uga played Clemson. Bammer even played VaTech, but cancelled that by playing Georgia State AND Chattanooga (what a joke).

But you are correct...Au had four practice games this year as did most of the rest of the conference.

In rebuilding mode, we should also IMO.

That would be expensive. Potentially worth it to get another home game paycheck even if it would be against a crap team and would guarantee a bowl game.

Teams just from the East that played top 10 OOC games:
UGA
SCAR
Kentucky
Florida
Tennessee

2 of those teams would have went bowling if they hadn't played a tough OOC schedule. I know Florida lost to Georgia Southern but they also played Miami and FSU.

How could you possibly know that? People act like it was either play Oregon, or get a for sure win and go bowling. We barely beat freaking South Alabama at home, so exactly how far away from Oregon do people want us to schedule so that it's an automatic win? Like you said FL lost to Georgia Southern, so by your logic, they needed to schedule someone weaker than that and they would have been in great shape.
