I dont know that broadcasting Tulsa & SMU brings more viewers adding those markets. It adds more televisions sure but actually having folks tuning in to watch I dont see.

I think Duke would join a basketball conference that included the Big East's basketball-only members and be a football independent before they would join the Big 12. I really don't see Duke in the Big 12. Academically, regionally, and competitively (football), that is a horrible fit.

Duke as an independent would fail miserably, I'd think.

In football?
They're failing miserably as it is.

It would be whether they want the revenue distribution of the Big 12 or a better fit for academics, basketball, and travel expenses for the "olympic" sports programs.

What I meant is that I don't know that they could really support an independent football team financially.

If it turns out that they need a power conference to financially sustain a football program, they'd have a decision to make.

I just cannot see the ACC completely blowing up.

I could see it becoming even more basketball-focused than it already is, and it losing its seat at the table with the other "BCS" leagues, but I cannot see it completely going away. That could cause quite a bit of members to leave. But, there's enough schools who are basketball powers along the East Coast with weak football programs to have a football league.

Bump the ACC. Georgia Tech should come home to the SEC.

Georgia Tech (more or less) stormed off and essentially told the conference to "kiss off" (to keep it family friendly) on the way out.

Not sure I could see their case as being so much one of "coming home"

I don't see it. I honestly think the Pac-12 is content.

Agree.

Probably not. Too many institutional conflicts, and the Pac-12 does consider all-around athletic and academic success in addition to market share. None of the current members want to deal with BYU, and UNLV and Boise are podunk schools with little market share, poor academics and relatively non-competitive in most sports. If it doesn't happen with the Texas expansion, it ain't happening. There's nothing left in the west to conquer at this point for Larry Scott.

And agree.

They spent 32 years in the SEC, and 46 years out of it. I don't get the folks who think that GaTech is so ingrained in the SEC.

Bama made their *** quit.

Right.

Honestly, were I around, I would have sympathized with Bobby Dodd in that situation; not because I'm worried about fairness, but it was a completely ****ty deal for the players and Bama was the worst offender.

Right on. Similar situation you cant blame Big 12 members for bolting because Texas advantage money wise from LHN.

It is going to be something like this in about 5 years, with conference final fours, then title games. With the four champs going to the playoff. Will be awesome.

Big 12
P1- Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor
P2-Oklahoma, Kansas, K.St, Ok St.
P3-WVU, Iowa St, Louisville, South Florida
P4-Clemson, FSU, Miami, GT

SEC
P1-Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, NC St
P2-Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Vandy
P3-Alabama, Auburn, Miss St, Miss
P4-LSU, Ark, Tex AM, Mizzou
Big 10
P1-Penn St, Mich, Mich St, Pitt
P2-Ohio St, Northwestern, Virginia, UNC
P3-ND, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue
P4-Nebraska, Minn, Wisconsin, Iowa
Pac 12
P1-Oregon, Org St, Wash, Wash St
P2-Cal, Stanford, Colorado, Colorado St
P3-Utah, BYU, Boise St, UNLV
P4-AZ, AZ St., USC, UCLA

Duke, UConn, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Cincinnati, Boston College, Maryland, and the rest of the Big East bball teams for a basketball centric league that isn't involved in the Football National Championship conversation.

Syracuse??????

I would rather invite both UNC and Duke. Both bring credibility in basketball and overall good athletic programs.

VT only brings football, which has been mediocre outside of ACC play.

NC State brings absolutely nothing to the table aside for being the 3rd best school in their state.
