FSU fires OC, DC and WR Coach

From 11-1 to 1-11. Mind boggling. Blaming the slight they got last last season became moot by game 4 or so. How would a badly coached FSU team even perform like this. It's not like Norvell is inept.
Their roster also got gutted; it wasn't just being slighted by being left out of the playoff.

Norvell struck gold in the portal last year and the year before. Basically every key contributor at every position is gone; a bunch of them are in the NFL, and even the best Portal coaches can be kind of hit or miss. He missed in the Portal for this year, big time, starting with DJU. Who isn't even playing right now.

That was a sign-in I never got. How could a QB/Offenseive minded coach like Norvell remotely think DJ was a good get. All goes back to Saban and his portal talks on Game Day this year. He educated on that topic. SAid you better be recruiting, and you only go to the portal when you have to. And you better do your work and know who you are getting because they are in the portal for a reason. Used wisely as a supplement to old fashioned footwork, it can be a powerful resource. Or it can tank you, like it apparently has Norvell this year. So, he must have relied too much on transient players last couple years instead of stocking his cupboard. Your thought makes much sense.

Yeah, in hindsight they were probably doomed the moment they signed him. If they had a lot of good players elsewhere, maybe they could have had a season like the seasons Clemson had with DJU as the starter (pretty good, not great), but their entire roster was gutted.

I think its clear at this point its not DJU thats the problem. and they play in the ACC, its not like they are playing a ton of talent week in and week out to explain the misses. and its not like FSU has gone full Deion with no high school recruiting. they are still the 3rd best high school recruiting team in the ACC, and its not even close.

the miss has got to be the coaching, and a good bit of that is mindset. I think they just all road into the year thinking they were owed and it was going to be a rerun. didn't focus at all on getting better. even for the GT game in Ireland to start the season Norvel was running his mouth about the playoffs last year.

Can you explain how this will get Norvell to “quiet quit”?
I'll weigh in. It's pretty straightforward. You put a person on an island, when they're already under fire, then start stripping away loyal officers and various support. Dry drowning.

Gets done all the time, in various forms. Not sure why theres so much snark about it here.

I didn’t need the definition. I want to know why him firing so many coaches regardless of whose decision it actually was would get him to quiet quit. What good does it do either party? He’s not going to actually quit and quiet quitting won’t get them out of the buyout

Thank you. I didn’t have the energy yesterday and you said it better than I could have anyway.

I read that answer and saw the parallels between the definition and the subject.

One should be able to imagine that cleaning house looks as if the administration is addressing problems when in fact they’re deflecting blame and buying their selves time. Instead of standing by their coach, they have positioned their selves against him.

Norvell will lose players over this and his recruitment will become more difficult than ever while trying to rebuild his staff and convince recruits that FSU has stability. FSU is not resetting Norvell’s expectations with the typical 3-4 years to show results, which means a rebuild is next to impossible.

Like so many coaches before, such as Butch Jones, Jimbo Fisher, Mark Stoops (soon to be) etc.. Why kill yourself for hostile people when you can enjoy yourself and force the employer to buy out your contact? Another 1-5 start and FSU will be forced to spend money for Norvell to enjoy early retirement. It’s a no brainer..

Your initial post was about the Noles getting out of the buyout… now you’re moving goal posts.

Sounds like they trying to get Norvell to quiet quit so that they can get out of a buyout. FSU is a mess right now.
But hey, do you boo boo

If I'm Norvell, I've got this on repeat on my phone. It's simple. You've got a contract. Don't let them out of it no matter what they do, get some nice golf clubs, and build that house you always.

So your argument is that they wouldn’t want out of the buyout?
You’re so dense. A. It won’t get them out of the buyout. B. He’s not going to quiet quit and they aren’t trying to get there. It’s not a thing in college coaching. His career would be absolutely over. Ftr, the idea that Mark Stoops is quiet quitting is just as absurd as your theory here.

Now we’re getting somewhere! Mr Bill has a thought besides stroking his ego.

How do you explain the sudden drop off and nonchalant attitude of Stoops if that isn’t quiet quitting? You’re a denialist - a crude one at that.

What is the point of firing both coordinators mid season if not to try to get Norvell to leave or do something worthy of firing him? What’s your best theory on how that solves anything other than trying to get Norvell to leave?

His career would be over? He turned Memphis and FSU into conference champions. The guy has better credentials than 90% of college coaches. 😂
