I wouldnt think any less of him if he decided to look at his options if the current staff is released. This is an important decision in any football players career...

you never know, but even if a new staff comes in I can easily see Drayton staying.

we better hope he likes coach drayton more then fulmer casue in the article he said if there is a coaching change he will look around at other colleges

CUM is stupid if he doesn't make a last effort at JG. But look at the facts, besides Frank Gore, who else who went to school in Florida panned out to be anything?

Half the running backs in the country come from Florida but they all go out of state to play ball....at least the ones who go pro. He is our #1 recruit, always has been.

Ed. James, Emmitt Smith, Willis MacGahee (sp?), Ottis Anderson (91 superbowl MVP), Burt Reynolds :), Fred Taylor, Warrick Dunn, Najeh Davenport (I think he played for Miami), and Clinton Portis.....these are just a few to come to mind. Pretty damn good list if you ask me. :hi:

I guess I should've said that in the original post though. Since the downfall of DaU and FSU and the arrival of CUM, the whole state of Florida is a graveyard for runningbacks.

Ciatrick Faison and DeShawn Wynn have both started NFL games in the past 5 seasons.

Leon Washington from FSU plays for the Jets now.

Andre Hall from South Florida plays for the Broncos.

Earnest Graham on the Buccaneers but he left UF in 2002 I believe.

Wouldn't you agree that list isn't too impressive? Take away Butch Davis's recruits at UM, you could go back 10 years and the list would still be average. We are talking about 3 BIG TIME college football programs who have won 3 out of the last 10 NC. This is probably the reason why JG said he was leaving the state from the get go.

Still getting after it

Meyer hasn't given up on a couple of talented in-state prospects that are committed to other schools, either. He recently was spotted at the Tampa Gaither-Tampa Alonso game to check out Gaither running back Jarvis Giles (committed to Tennessee) and Alonso defensive lineman Demonte McAllister (committed to Florida State).
Both Giles and McAllister are Under Armour All-Americans.

IMO and looking at production, they have put out more RB than most states. With CUM offense system though, I dont see any big time RB coming there. I think we are safe with Giles, he would be silly to change to Florida with a already loaded team.
