FSU Got Jipped

Part of the issue that I see on my end as well is all of the SEC's OOC loses really don't make it look that strong this year. Most of these losses were to the ACC as well. That should have mean something. If FSU had a soft OOC schedule or the SEC had performed well overall, I would see Alabama's argument.

Why not leave out Michigan because of their chicken sh1t OOC schedule?
The ACC was 6-4 vs SEC. 4 wins versus 3 non bowl teams including Vanderbilt. 1 win versus a team that fired their coach . The other win was vs LSU . 1 good win on Labor Day weekend. 1 really bad loss on the last week of the regular season when the 2nd best team in your league loses at home to Kentucky. Let’s not pretend the ACC was some superior conference because UNC and Clemson beat an underachieving USCjr team, FSU beat a Gator team that didn’t go bowling and Miami beat a team that fired their coach in the middle of the season

Michigan’s OOC is a joke, but they also beat 2 teams in the final 12 of CFP. The ACC was a 1 team league this season . Clemson, Miami, UNC and others had their opportunities, but were subpar overall.

They still matter. A&M was one of the better teams in Alabama's schedule. The fact that they fired their coach and stunk shows that Alabama's schedule and the SEC as a whole wasn't that good this year and supports my argument.

The fact that Florida and South Carolina did not make bowl games despite supposedly being SEC teams matters as well. Miss State stunk, Arkansas, stunk, Auburn stunk, etc. SEC just wasn't that good to justify a 1-loss team passing an undefeated team.

Had the SEC rocked in OOC and had multiple solid wins, sure put them in.

Conspiracy amongst five committee members to retaliate for comments made a year ago knocking the ACC?

Or enough committee members felt like the vast, vast majority of football-viewing public that Alabama is a better football team than FSU?

Occam's razor invoked.
Interesting they didn't see UGA the same way.

FSU doesn’t have a marquee win. The fact that the ACC was a 1 team league was FSU’s biggest problem. If Clemson was 11-1 and they played FSU last weekend we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Because an 11-1 Clemson team would’ve beaten this version of FSU last weekend. In fact, any mostly healthy 11-1 power 5 conference team would’ve beaten FSU the last 2 weekends . In the event that an 11-1 Clemson team would’ve lost to this version of FSU, FSU would be in. But, FSU looked lackluster against a Louisville team that lost to a 7-5 Kentucky team at home the weekend before. Bama OTOH beat a team that hadn’t lost in 30 games. FSU had 2 weeks to prove that without their QB out that they could still be a similar football team. Did anybody see a top 4 football team w/o Travis? I didn’t. That may not be fair, I’m not making the rules, but based on the criteria they had a lot stacked against them. I’m not saying it doesn’t suck, but I definitely don’t think they’re one of the 4 best teams. I’ve also said that I’d take any of the CFP final 12 against them right now. I stand by that . Based on what I saw against Florida and Louisville I would take every other team in the top 12.

Here is the thing. Most just assume that FSZu would get embarrassed because of no Jordan Travis. Nobody knows that would have happened. Did anyone see UGA beating TCU like that last year? How about Auburn getting whipped by New Mexico State? Or Kentucky beating Louisville or Missouri stomping us? Massive upsets happen every year. It’s why the games are played. You never know the results. FSU shouldn’t have been omitted because of a hypothetical.

Louisville was a ten win and top 15 team, I would call that a marquee win.

Alabama looked VERY LACKLUSTER against Auburn. Even Georgia last year nearly lost to Missouri and looked horrible against Ball State. Fact was, FSU was undefeated and the SEC West wasn't that great. Every team in the SEC West except the two Mississippis had an OOC loss.

Louisville lost to Kentucky . At home. The second best team in the ACC who was a 10 win team lost to Kentucky at home on Senior Day the last week of the season. That loss did more damage to the ACC and FSU than any 6 wins vs the SEC did to help it. FSU doesn’t have a win that comes close to any of the 4 teams in the CFP right now. Washington beat Oregon twice. Texas beat Bama @ Bama . Michigan, despite their garbage OOC schedule beat Penn State and Ohio State.
Bama did look bad at Auburn . They looked bad 2 years ago at Jordan Hare too, but they won. Then they beat the #1 team in the country on a neutral field. That’s the best win anyone has outside of Texas at Bama.

I see where you're going with that, but isn't that cutting off their nose to spite their face? Like FSU or not, having them in the CFP is good for the other ACC programs from a financial perspective.
Yep that is certainly one perspective. But with these clowns, I never discount petty jealousy. Vengeance is best served cold and FSU is in the icebox.

I said it the other day and Paul Finebaum said the same thing yesterday. There is noise that a lot of folks in college football have been angry at FSU for publicly stating last spring that they were basically too good for the ACC and were looking to get out because of the money situation. Since there are 5 people with ACC ties on the committee (including the chairman), that sounds plausible to me.

Finebaum basically asked why would the committee punish probably the biggest brand in college football and reward a “renegade” program? Now I know that Finebaum is paid partly by the SEC Network and is a Bama shill but I believe that scenario played a part in the robbery.
Finebaum is being extra douchy these days. His Alabama nut hugging has returned to a stratospheric level as of late. I can't even listen to him anymore.

So since FSU is obviously an inferior team without Travis, shouldn't he be the front runner for the Heisman? Without him, FSU obviously would have a tough time with Vanderbilt, but with him they would have been CFP worthy.

They should be in the playoffs not bama
What gets me is that they played the #14 team in the nation and beat them. We can all say "well, they lost a big time QB" but they played top 10 football in the championship game and won. Does this not prove that they are still playing top ten football? That victory against a good team was ignored. I'm sure the QB play will be much better in the bowl since they have several weeks to practice. I say we saw a "pre=determined" outcome for the final 4.
