Fullback ?

Twice a halfback...who is

Twice a quarterback.

They measure from the center.

Now you know. :)

Something I've always wondered...is the naming convention based off of old offensive sets, where perhaps the fullback was actually the rearmost player in the backfield, instead of being an up-back in today's offensive schemes? Otherwise, it makes zero sense that the full back lines up closer to the center than the halfback.

I think yer confusing halfback with tailback. Tailback is behind the fullback and usually gets the ball. Halfback I think is more of a fullback/tight end hybrid.

In the single wing formation the fullback (or "spinback") usually took the snap from center. The quarterback was really a blocking back. How about the wingback and the tailback? Things change with time.

Gotcha. I always thought HB and TB were basically interchangeable terms

Nobody uses fullback in high school or anywhere else. Alabama, GA, Clemson and Oklahoma certainly do not.

Tailbacks for I formation and Single Wing. T formation, Wishbone, Veer etc. use 2 halfbacks.

Wont see one. At least not a true one. More two-TE formations and bigger backs.

IF we run something with a FB, I expect you'll see a TE shift into position. JMO

Every picture tells a story.
