I didnt know where the best place to put this, so I will just post it here. Also, I am not sure if anyone has posted about it yet (Im sure they have) but here it is.

If I was the parent of a recruit, I wouldnt want my kid to go to UT. Fulmer clearly doesnt have control of this team in terms of discipline at all. Every team has problems but UT seems to have more than our fair share.
The incident with Gerald Jones, Paige, another UT player and a recruit should be Exhibit A.
Jones should have been kicked off the team. Period. Jones embarrased the University. I know that some will say the recruit wasnt going to come to UT anyway but how good does it look when he comes here, under the supervision of the UT athletic department, and gets involved in an arrest of a UT football player (who is his host) for smoking pot. Im sure other coaches will use this against us during in home visits.
The bottom line is this. Fulmer does not discipline his players off the field, doesnt have control over his team, and will start losing the recruiting war because parents will not send their kids here. Wins and Loses means more to him.

We didn't have that many problems the last two years. But he has had his fair share of disciplinary problems.

Dawson's post could've been made in 2005 and would have been 100% dead-on. The team was a pre-season Top 3 and there was nary a whisper of discontent regarding Fulmer, other than a few folks on the fringes who didn't like the fact that most fans could call 90% of the offensive plays before they were run.

Then there was the meltdown of the 2005 season and everyone's job was on the line in 2006. Suddenly, disciplinary issues are no longer a problem and I readily credit the staff for tightening the reigns. The 2006 season was good enough to preserve the stauts quo on the staff but not good enough to warrant any significant raises or cotnract extensions. Discipline remained mostly in check, BB guns on the interstate notwithstanding.

Next comes the "turnaround", mythical SEC East championship, 10-win (out of 14 games) season. Fulmer gets a significant contract extension, a raise, and a an unmitigated vote of confidence from the AD. For now, it looks like Fulmer may die on the sidelines from old age if that is how he wants it to play out. The pressure is off and suddenly we are right back to where we were three years ago, the last time the pressure was really off.

All of this begs the question, was it really a smart call to take the pressure off?

I am reserving complete judgement for signing day. However there is certainly some irony in this situation, especially considering how the class looks right now. Most reasoned that "taking the pressure off" would remove all recruiting obstacles.....we shall see.

Do you guys think it is strange that when Cutcliffe arrived the disciplinary problems went away and now that he is gone they are returning? Maybe it is just coincidence but Cutcliffe is known to be very strict.

Also, it could just be the fact the Fulmer has been gone so much the last month recruiting. What is the old saying? When the cat is away the mice will play.........

Do you think Cut had any bearings on the discipline issues?

It's a well-known fact that Fulmer is not the most ardent of disciplinarians.

Do you give Cut any credit or does having their jobs on the line all of a sudden make kids behave?

I don't think CPF can turn discipline off and on. I think he's not very good at it and wants to pass the blame off on somebody else when they have to set the law down.

I personally think Cut brought discipline to the team. In his press conference two years ago when they announced him as offensive coordinator, he stated, "It is either our way or the highway".

If you notice, all the guys that have been in trouble lately play offense.

I also want to point out the details from the Parker arrest. He was being loud and obnoxious in the parking lot. Police arrived and he refused to quiet down, then resisted arrest.

CPF makes a call and says it was KPD who should be checked into, because he feels there was an injustice going on. The administration "looks" into the arrest and finds no problems with it.

Only someone who doesn't have an answer, would blame others and need a further investigation into what happened. With three disciplinary problems in three weeks, he starts to blame others.

4 strikes for Coker doesn't exactly fit the our way or the highway mold though.

Its been stated numerous times that the decision on what to do with Coker was not in the coaches hands. The university had to go through the process it set up with drug tests.

another for the star lovers...we have 5 recruits that are 5.7 ranking...1 point away from 5.8..which is a 4 star.

I don't care for stars all that much. Just good size, speed and the videos is really what i look at.

I watched Poole's vid. today and he looks like a Foster prototype, imo.

I look at who else is recruiting a player more so than star rankings. I don't get real excited when i see we are competing against the likes of duke, kentucky or ovc teams for players.

Poole is faster than Foster and more of a bruiser. His forty time was with his hurt ankle/leg. He has run forties below 4.5 when healthy. He is a beast. If Davis comes as well with Creer we are very very deep and RB.

I wouldn't say Poole is faster than Foster. They both have deceptive speed and probably run a 4.55 40.
