Fulmer debate extravaganza (merged)

If the offense excels this year and it results in wins, I am sure Fulmer will get credit for the hires. Unfortunately, the practice reports I am reading (from people who are there are who do not owe their paycheck or sideline pass to Fulmer) sound like this offense may be worse than what we saw in 2005.

I have read the same things. Considering most of the negative info is coming from former players, the picture might look rather bleak right now. Personally, I still contribute most of the problems to the installation of the new offense. Afterall, this system is brand spanking new.

Now, the fact that Crompton is not really distinguishing himself is the most disturbing thing that I am reading right now. If that situation doesn't resolve itself, the Vols could be in a heap of trouble. Otherwise, I think we have some playmakers "in the making". We just have to get them the ball.

Regardless of what I have read, I am inclined to believe that the defense is going to be much improved this year. Depth at DT is not good, but our starters on D will all be SEC caliber this year.

All in all, we really won't know what we have until kick off in the fall. The anxiety factor at QB looks as though it will go down to the wire.

the fact is, that the installation of a new offense is hardest on the QB, who approaches the line thinking about the mechanics of the play rather than just playing football.

If you are claiming that the offense excelled in any way shape or form last season, you can go cheer for Duke. Our offense last season was garbage.
it wasn't USCesque granted, but garbage is a tad harsh. it wasn't that bad...jeez.

agreed, and to take it a step further, if i read what what i've read right, this offense is also difficult for the WR's, as they are expected to make the same read as the qb and they be on the same page as to whatever adjustments to the route they make at the line based on the coverage they see. taking that in to account, you have two guys that have the original play called, what routes they are supposed to run, and then they are both supposed to make the same adjustment at the line based on what they see......with little communication.....

add all the shifts etc....i'm less inclined to worry just yet. still have all summer and fall to work on it. the WR's and the QB's getting together in the voluntary workouts this summer will be a huge part of their development for 08, and they simply have to take advantage of that time so when they come back in the fall they can then get to the business of just getting better at it vs. learning it.

If I'm happy with the Vols and you are not, why would I be the on to leave?

didn't realize that I should go ahead and start making projections on how great/bad our offense will be after a couple weeks of spring practice, a new offense not fully installed, our 1st team offense not at full strength, and uhhhh yeah, ITS SPRING PRACTICE....

Obviously you are a fan of the caliber of football played by teams like Duke. I'm just trying to direct you to the best source.

I love it when you dare to offer your opinion and people say, "go cheer for x". such cogent discourse.

Fulmer is a complete waste of time..............

The man had the chance to put the SEC in a complete stranglehold with Tennessee on top and he blew it!

Fulmer needs to leave pronto!

I should have told you to get the book Baby Wise...

a lady in our church just gave it to us and my wife is reading it right now. last night was rough. I just returned from a council mtg in Kerrville, TX...the hill country, and was worn out. my new daughter did not care that daddy had been in driving for 4 hours after meetings all day.

I can attest to the fact that books are no help in the face of colic unless you use them to knock yourself out so you can get some rest.

My daughter never really had colic, but sometimes they're just not going to sleep. Period. No book will help with that.

mine had colic, my only hope for you rex is that it only lasts about as long as it did for us...once she got to about 2 1/2 to 3 months....brand new baby.....but those 1st 8 or 10 weeks were brutal...i feel your pain.
