have you guys ever heard such crap, why doesn't he just hire Cut and get it over with. i think everbody in the state of tennessee knows it is coming. what do you guys think, do you think he is really evaluating offensive coordinators or is he just blowing us aline of crap to drag it out till the end of the season. it sounds like typical fulmer double talk, i don't think he is evaluating anybody.

I think he has to evaluate some other options. UT, Fulmer in particular cannot afford to mess this up and while a lot of people think Fulmer owns Hamilton I am not sure Hamilton would allow an instant hire of Cut without taking a look around. Coach Cut will probably want to consider his options as well....we all know he wants to be a head coach and he will want to see what opportunities are out there before he makes a decision even if the job is offered by UT. It would be absolutely insane to not evaluate some other options but who knows what is really going on.

It's political --going through the motions--makes everything look fair. They have to contact/consult with Pilot Oil and Thorton Enterprises. Remember, follow the money and politics.

Why does everything have to appear sinister? :devilsmoke: Fulmer and Hamilton would have to be idiots to not look around for the very best OC prospect. This is the most critical decision for our team. Another year of pitiful offensive results could run our program off the radar for years to come.

We must get an OC who is capable of teaching and maturing quarterbacks and receivers.

Because the two indirectly mentioned people are powerful ($$$$) and have a say so (politics) about the VOLS.

Know your VOLS politics.

I have no doubt about the political influences associated with UT and UT football. But even those influencers have to acknowledge that if the UT football program is not maintained to a high degree that the the program will tank quickly and they will not have anything left to influence. It is easier to attain than to maintain. To maintain there has to be leadership that is driven to constantly stimulate the program. There is never a time when top leadership can say we have arrived and now we can rest. I hope that if Cutcliff is chosen that he does not look at UT as a place of comfort where he, Phil and Randy can reminise about the old days and go fishing on Sundays. I hope he looks at the program as being the biggest challenge of his life and pursues greatness with the openess of mind and vigor of a 30 year old. If he is not willing to do that, then I say he should stay in radio. I personally feel Fulmer and the rest of the staff should have the same mindset and effort towards success.

that is such a joke. Phil has talked to some people........ right. the only people he has talked to are Cut and the administration to prepare the Contract. give us a break phil, do you think we are idiots???

Does he have to give minorities a fair shot and talk to some as well before coming to final decision? Remebmer , colleges and universities are graded on minority hirings. When some coaches hired immediately, the BCA or NAACP seem to react react harshly when a white is hired right away. Call it a double standard if it is the other way around but i like to know if UT has to go through the process of giving everyone a chance for the job of all races.

i never said anything about a conspiracy. cut was phil's choice all along. the only issue was whether cut would get a head coaching job.

lets just speak the truth here.

thats what i was saying. if Cut is the man why all this crap about i have to interview others. the people on the radio know it's coming, the fans know it is coming. it makes fulmer look stupid to just drag things out. he could have Cut already out on the recruiting trail, this is what is wrong with the progam.

The BCA grades on an A to F scale. Generally, they only grade for Head Coaching recruiting, but they may grade out on any position, especially if the decision is quick.

Personally, I think the BCA grades are a joke.

I was thinking about starting a WTB committee myself.

The concept of Fulmer "jumping" through anything gives me a chuckle.

He'd get a couple of black eyes if he was successful.

Fulmer says:

"The first thing we want is someone who is a proven quarterback coach and has served as an offensive coordinator and has experience in recruiting,'' said Fulmer. "We're looking for a guy who has been extremely successful in those areas.''

Translation:

It's going to be DC.

He also said he was "looking at the obvious, and looking at the not so obvious."

hmmmmm.....

It'll be DC as long as DC wants it to be. They'll only look at "other options" if he turns it down.

IMO, we'll know in about 2 weeks, or less.

I just hope that who ever the OC is going to be that he will have the skill and attitude to say, "I can beat you with mine or I can beat you with yours." There is no reason we cannot have that with the resources we have available here at UT.
