Fulmer made a living off of-

Whatever he did in the NFL, he absolutely pancaked in a game that led to a really long TD run by (most likely) either Cobb or Webb. Wish I could recall which game, but it was 1989 and I was in the South end zone more or less in the student section and had a good view, and he just detroyed the DL and the RB ran about 70 or so yards untouched to the end zone. It was a thing of beauty.

Also for the record (cause I just looked it up!) he spent 5 years with Tampa Bay and a year with the Raiders. I'd hardly call that a bust.
It was Auburn. I want to say McRae invested a lot of his bonus money wisely in either Apple, Google or Microsoft. I heard he really wasn’t interested in the NFL all that much.

OP literally said taking defensive line and moving them to the offensive side. That is EXACTLY what he did with Witten. Sorry if that is too difficult for you to comprehend.
Witten was NOT happy about it initially either. I’ve heard Fulmer say, “I told him he’d be a pro at TE, but he didn’t believe it”. Today’s Witten probably transfers to Va Tech to play with his brother. Kids are more specialized today in thinking they are DL/OL types before they get to college.

I know it as well as you. That's not remotely the context. Witten didn't play OG or OT. WTF are YOU doing talking about comprehension? 🤭🤣🤣

Equality for the players, nightmares for the Universities, coaches, and fans. In this case, the Supreme Court had the last say. I can not argue that it was the wrong decision but it did change the face of College athletics.
It was the wrong decision, made every College engaged in NIL a Professional Organization, and every player a professional. Now what you have is a bonafide mess. What happened to the Players and their agents making NIL deals? Now you have Schools in a bidding war for top talent. The whole idea was for the NCAA not be allowed to prevent players from profiting from their NIL. That was the crux of the lawsuit. That went totally wacky. Sonow, every player should get the same money from the Institution, (say 2k per Month) plus tuition housing, ect., and whatever deal they can make with sponsors would be independent of the School or Ncaa. And if the players are no longer students, (most won't be going to class; the ones making the big bucks) then you have to do away with Freshmen, Sophomores, ect and simply go out and hire the best players you can find, ex NFL players, CFL, XFL, or Professional College players who never run out of eligibility. Throw in a few really good XCons to make it feel more natural and bulldogish.. After all, Congress is saying these guys are now Professionals. So they should be treated as such, and if not, you have another lawsuit pending. This sounds crazy, but no crazier than what we see unfolding now. If I'm a professional player for a university, shouldn't I be allowed to play until my contract is up and not renewed? I may be good enough to play 10 years, just not in the NFL.

We should go ahead and start this transition right now. And while we're at it maybe switch to a 3/4 defense too.
You think Bigo could knock a DE off the line ? Or a DT for that matter? I already had that conversation, why not play a couple guys on offense that played both ways in HS? It all comes down to blocking your man. Move a couple over, temporarily , whatever, line up and run the damn ball down their throats.

Different day today. If a kid don’t want to move, he transfers. That wasn’t the case before.

Yeah, that's too bad. Some of those players could be potential All-Americans at other positions. But they'd rather be full of themselves and do what THEY want, rather than listen to the advice of the experts who might see potential in guys who don't see it themselves.

Really? Give us some examples of players being asked to move and didn't because they are "full of themselves". There's literally cover corners all over the NFL who were asked to move there from WR when they got to college. You're FOS

Right off the top of my head, Lynn J Dixon absolutely should have been a linebacker in college and he would've been a damn good one. However he insisted on playing RB in college and his career ended up being a nothing burger.

It should've never been taken to the Supreme Court in the first place. The NCAA was mistaken in thinking the courts would side with them. They could've fixed this internally years before, and it would've avoided a lot of this mess.
👍🏻

The NCAA was drunk on power is why it went to the Supreme Court. They could not be reasoned with because they thought no one cared enough to do anything about it.

I don’t remember him playing much Offensive Line

I seem to recall him lining up next to a tackle with his hand on the ground a lot.

But since you are splitting hairs, it is a hybrid position. But he certainly blocked a lot.
