Boy are we low on RB's. What is the deal? I know Coker is hurt...but I'm sorry... Foster isn't hitting the holes like he should. Did you see the way LSU attacked the line of scrimmage? We pitter patter to the line looking for the 80 yard run. They need to ram that darn ball down the linemans back if he isn't blocking. Do something instead of your favorite Michael Jackson dance...for goodness sakes! Our running game is absolutely pathetic! No RB's and no "run"blocking O-line, and injuries caught up to us tonight!

how on earth can we pass block the way we do and not be able to run block that amazes me...

Pass blocking is more about technique, which the Offensive line has, but run blocking is about getting that push, and they're just not strong enough to get a push.

Correct. What is going on with our strength and conditioning program with lineman. Offense and Defense.

you could have Barry Sanders back there, but if he doesn't have any blocking, he aint gonna do nothing

Coker is very good. Foster can play well against lesser opponents and with running room. I think UT needs at least 2 good offensive lineman to run behind.

Pass blocking is less technique because the primary goal is to simply prevent someone from reaching the QB. This means better footwork.

Run blocking is much more technique-oriented than pass blocking is. Besides needing to get that initial push, the primary goal is to remove a behemoth of a man from a running lane or an area.

I've been very clear on how I feel about Foster. You all say the line sucks, maybe so, but the times that at least one block is thrown or it's a sweep and the bulk of the blocking is TE's and WR's Foster still chimeys and shakes and tries crap that will never work.

Our line sucks yes, but when we do the things right and there is a potentional for 6 yards Foster usually picks up 3.

He had 10 carries for 44 yards and 21 being the longest.

therefore 9 carries for 23 yards. (2.5 a carry)

Try Hardesty. When Ainge gets better put Crompton back there. Hell at least he acts like he wants to go head up with someone while Foster is going through the physics in his head of how many yards are here compared to if I crack outside where I have 2 blockers and inside where I have..........So on and such and BAM someone reaches down and unties his shoe and he falls backwards.

I record every game (that I'm able to) and I watch certain things throughout the week. Some of the choices that Foster makes, even on screen plays, amazes me on how in the world he's even in the back field.

In my opinion, this is the real reason we lost tonight and the main reason why we could possibly lose any of the 3 games remaining. Someone is going to have to step up.

I'm not saying our RB's are trash, they're all talented, but our running game is HORRIBLE right now..

Agreed, but this isn't an easy fix problem right now.

Fulmer note to self: When opposition has first and goal on their final possession, use some of your three remaining timeouts.

maybe the note should say "ask chief how to get pressure on a qb when you have them 4th and 8 with the game on the line." Inexcuasble.

I wouldnt call Hardesty garbage, that's ridiculous, this is his first season back from major knee surgery and he runs hard. To call him garbage is just ignorant

1.) An offensive line/man with a nasty mean streak.
2.) "Gang" Tackling
3.) Space eater at DT.

UT won't win another championship until they either {1} get a new DC or {2} completely overhaul their defensive schemes. The Vols haven't fielded a great defense since 1998 and have fielded a really outstanding defense since 2001. If you force Randy Sanders to pay the price for non productive Offense, then by golly John Chavis should not be given a pass for lousy defensive execution. Chavis can make all the excuses he wants, but, the truth is UT has not played SEC defense against the better SEC teams this season. Against Fla/UGA/So Carolina/LSU the Vols are allowing 26 points per game - that is totally unacceptable. BTW, unless UT improves greatly on defense, Arkansas will run all over the Vols and the game won't be close.

Last season's defense was very very good. They kept us from being even worse that 5-6, and gave us oppurtunities to win some games that we lost. To say that we won't win another Championship until we get a new DC is the dumbest comment I think I have ever read on this board. We nearly won a championship in 2004 when we played undefeated Auburn very very close until late in the game when the refs wanted to make sure AU remained undefeated.
