Yeah, but you can't go 3 and out all day long and give up field position with special teams mistakes and expect your defense to come up big every single time.

The defense has played well enough to win just about every game.

agree, no D could survive with such a BAD offense! :realmad:

I tell you what.....YOU get out there for far more time than you were conditioned for game after game and see how you hold up in the end. You cannot expect 3 and outs over and over to allow the Defense to stay healthy and in the game. they get worn down because the offense can't stay on the field longer than three quick downs. These guys are good but there are physical limits week after week that these guys hit. It shows with good defense after 3 quarters game after game. Of course now that sorry attitude on the O side has spilled over into the D side as well. You can't expect these guys to keep their heads positive when their opposites screw up like they do.

So go ahead and crap on the D but they've been the only thing keeping us from losing a couple more if not all of the games this year.

Maybe it is because Fulmer let some good recruits slip thru a few years back that would have really helped the team in the WR position. I know of 1 from a lil town in SC that beat us a few weeks back that wanted to be a VOL and was told he was too slow and was never offered!

This "undependable" defense is the only thing that has kept us competitive this year in the first place.

Very true. And put yourself on that 11 man unit....how many times do you shut down an offense...get the ball back just to see a 3 and out if not a turnover before you sigh and say...why keep tryin?

I don't remember the last time UT had a primaddona on defense. They are always managed well and function cohesively. They are number 3 in the nation in rushing defense, and are better than any defense in the top five in the BCS, the only exception may be OSU.

They never complain, they just wear out. The game plan that CPF employs puts all the pressure on the D period.
