Funny how everyone still bashes Phillip Fulmer when he did more in his coaching career than most on the website had seen for the Tennessee Vols. Have some respect and class for a legend who brought us to the promise land

I was hoping the lean years would weed out some of the legions of miserable.

I believe Phil no way he could buy fifty tacos and get to the players with that many. They certainly were wrong probably meant five. Phil had made 45 disappear.

a lot of this stuff would be taken care of if they went back to living in dorms

It happens in the dorm. You would be surprised. It's chaotic in the lobby and outside the dorm (Gibbs) on game day. People coming and going. Stopping by to congratulate a player or get an autograph. This is when things happen.

Make them stay in dorms through their second playing year. Living off campus just seems to bring in a whole lot of problems. (Not as if a Gibbs Hall address is a ticket to sainthood, but still...)

My kids only lived off-campus if they could prove to me that it was cheaper that way. If they could pull that off, I gave them the difference in cost. If not, they paid their rent and food and internet and KUB and Comcast and all the rest.

fulmer should have had better control of his coaches so they weren't paying players

This line from the ESPN article about Fulmer's comments are a bit concerning...

"Generally, the NCAA has a four-year statute of limitations on allegations. But if the NCAA determines there are extenuating circumstances in this case such as a pattern of behavior, it could subject Tennessee to another investigation and potentially more penalties."

The NCAA can indeed go back beyond four years.

Trooper was also rumored to be the bagman while at Auburn.

He would be the obvious candidate except that Foster claims that this taco incident happened his senior season and Troop was at Oklahoma State while Foster fumbled away the UCLA and Auburn games in 2008. If Foster didn't want to get specific about who was providing him extra benefits then he should have kept his mouth shut. He has unfairly put a cloud over several coaches who likely have no idea what he is talking about.
