Did they not watch tapes on Ark?!?! What the hell else was Ark gonna do? They run the damn ball! S.C. caught on, Hell Vandy knew it. Why can't the supposed Big Dog in the SEC do that?? I am sick of this. Damn right its Fulmer's fault.

I do think they were a little surprised by Ark putting McFadden in at QB and running so much option with him. We still should have defended it better, but I think that's the first time they've shown that.

Listening to Fulmer talk after a game should be used down in the Gitmo prison.

It was a smart move..

Your best player + running any sort of option against Tennessee = Success.

Come on! Any decent coach is going to put in some option offense against us if they have any players with any ability whatsoever to run an option. We've been absolutely torched by anyone and everyone that has run the option against us all season (and for that matter, the entire regime of Fulmer and Chavis). Perhaps our lazy coaching staff should get off their butts and coach our team on how to stop an option offense. Then it won't matter when our opponents throw the option into their gameplan against us. Our coaching staff flat out sucks.

Negative, ran the same stuff against S.C. Difference is S.C. adjusted

...which our brilliant coaching staff is unable to do. We just get torched by the option attack of a terrible team like Air Force, and then hope that no other coaching staff on our schedule for the rest of the season happens to watch that game film.

True, but you've got to admit that wasn't just your run of the mill QB running the spread option.

This is absolutely absurd! Why is it that so many of you guys try to claim that every single player that torches our team is so great? Yes, McFadden is a really good running back. However, Air Force lit up our defense. AIR FORCE!!!! What was posted on this board afterwards? Air Force has a phenomenal offense. They ran that option so well nobody could stop it. BS! Air Force has been beaten by a lot of really bad teams this year. The problem is that our lazy coaching staff refuses to put in the work necessary to learn how to stop the option attack and to teach it to our defense. Our defense just flat out sucks! Everybody looks great against us because we're that bad! It is absolutely disgusting to me that you guys are so willing to accept mediocrity. Why is it that we get lit up by the option EVERY SINGLE TIME WE EVER FACE IT? Answer: Atrocious coaching!!!

I would like to add something to Vol423's post. Air Force's 30 points on us has been their 3rd highest point outburst this season.

They scored 24 on New Mexico, 17 on Navy, 24 on Colorado St, 12 on San Diego St, 14 on BYU, and 17 on Notre Dame.

Their offense isn't amazing.

OK . . .How many feature tailbacks have you seen so far this year with the skills to slide over to QB and run the spread option? How many tailbacks have you seen run a playaction freeze option and then throw a perfect strike for a TD?

I have no delusions about our defense. We looked terrible. We've looked bad against the run all year long and we should have done a whole lot better job of stopping it, but you have to give McFadden props for being able to do it and Arkansas props for putting it in the offense.

McFadden is a really good running back, and he killed us even when he wasn't running the ball out of an option attack. However, if our lazy coaching staff would ever teach our team how to stop the option attack then it wouldn't matter if Barry Sanders was running the option against us. Stopping the option isn't rocket science. It just takes discipline. Our coaching staff is too lazy to teach our defense how to go about defending the option, and because of that fact we get lit up every time we face the option attack. Anybody that runs an option attack against us lights our defense up like a pinball machine. You don't have to stick a great running back in at QB. Air Force's QB isn't on anybody's Heisman list. He's not a world class athlete. He shredded us like swiss cheese.

We're talking about Tennessee here. How often do we face an option style offense anyways? Plus, if we defended the option like gang busters every other style of offense we faced would pound us royal. Why? Because we're Tennessee...

Tennessee is a team that can only be good at one thing at a time.
