Fulmer to ETSU?

Evidently, Phil has no sense of who he is or his accomplishments. Won a NC, has a top 10 SEC coaching record, and is a HOF member. "Helping" ETSU would be fine; but not in a HC capacity. Why demean an outstanding legacy? As each UT coaching hire fizzles, Phil looks better & better. I would not mess with that. Additionally, Phil's assistants were prominent in his successes.

Maybe it's for the love of the game..
Phil knows he accomplished a lot here, but he might enjoy coaching.

Jon Gruden will be the next HC at ETSU.

ETSU plans to release the news to the press on Friday, and Gruden's acceptance speech is scheduled for 1:00 EST Friday.

Phil's desperate to get back into the game. The longer he stays out of coaching, the more irrelevant he feels. He'd jump at the chance.

I think this is a "win win" situation. CPF could get back into coaching, then after he got it up and going, pass it off to a younger coach. He gets his coaching with no D1 pressure, still lives in E. TN., and retire in a few years. ETSU gets an experienced coach who can still coach regardless of what some on here say.

Wiki-research.....

If Phil takes this position, then he needs 64 wins to be the all time winningest coach in ETSU history. It is anticipated ETSU will open the season in the fall of 2015.

You're welcome.

"VERY" small chance of that happening since that would put Fulmer over 70 and require him winning 13 games each season for five years to break the record. Not totally impossible but highly unlikely. But, PF would surely like to wind up as the "winningest coach" somewhere since it didn't happen at UT. PF will probably just collect some more "loose change" from ETSU for consulting services, if ETSU is willing to offer it to him for those services.

If he got the ole ball coach as his oc could be done

I think it's common knowledge that Fulmer has been in talks with ETSU. What isn't public knowledge is that he's signed on to be a part of their resurgence to getting football back. Not as a coach, but probably as a consultant/fundraiser. Will be announced in the coming weeks.
