Yep, that does happen. I worked at a place where they hired a guy to start at 7 am & he was gone at 11 am.

I remember having to sit down in the floor in front of everyone to talk to girlfriends. It was embarrassing. I'd get in trouble for "stretching the chord" trying to get privacy.

We had a phone in mom and dad's room, and one on the kitchen wall going into the playroom. and fortunately dad put a door there when we added that end on the house. We put a long cord so you could step in and close the. The privacy was still limited however.

I remember pitching woo to a woman in an attic apartment from down on the front lawn. One by one, neighbors stepped outside to listen. When she finally agreed to go out with me for a bite to eat, women sighed, squealed, hugged each other, and one clapped. Then, I overheard one man say, "So, you gonna come in, now?"

After that episode (and the inevitable Ginger/Mary Ann-esque discussion of Jennifer vs Bailey), if anyone embarked on a half baked scheme and later questioned about their poor judgement, the immediate response was "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!"
