Funny Pics thread II

Friday they had us cold calling 2020 high school graduates to see if they were interested in the Army. Out of 31 calls, only 2 people answered. And one of those was a wrong number. I did have a girl call back, but she hung up on me as soon as I told her who I was. Going to be a weird next 3 years. Sorry if any of y'all live near Mt Airy, NC. Don't hold it against me.

Do recruiters still get to attend career day at the local high schools?

They work the schools a lot. Not just career day, but they show up lots of other times too. Sometimes stuff happens where the relationship between the school and the recruiting station sours though and then it's pretty much never getting to go back.

At one time, as a young troop, I entertained the idea of being a recruiter. Then, I found out about quotas and the possible punishments involved for not reaching them. That ended that dream.

A couple years prior to my retirement, the AF was forcing people into that special duty. Did you pick recruiter duty or did it pick you?

I was department of the Army selected. No way would I have volunteered for this. Apparently not reaching quota isn’t good, but you don’t get punished like before
That's a good thing, especially when being picked to do it. You'll get your footing and master the art of the deal.

Bless her heart. i hope that was photoshop. that's a lot of native territory on that forehead.

Are you being punished or filling the gap opened by the punished?
Unfortunately neither. Surprise surprise, but not enough people want to be Army recruiters. A lot, most even, of those that make a career out of the Army on the enlisted side either have to be a recruiter, drill sergeant, or sometimes luck out as an instructor. So, here I am. Giving back to the Army I guess
