Funny.. who would like if Diana & Candace had traded school

I don't think people in Tennessee would have been so salty about Candace being at UConn. They might not have liked her, but that reaction would have been similar to someone like Stewart or Moore or whatever. Even with the dunk. Taurasi was "punch the championship post" special; she wore her absolute hatred of Tennessee on her sleeve. I am sure some people would have eaten that up, but I'm also sure Pat would have put a stop to it. Probably a part of why that pairing would have never, ever worked.

One thing I do know is this. Had Summitt been the coach of a modern Team USA squad, she would never been petty enough to leave a UConn Candace Parker off the roster. Nor would she have let Tennessee hog roster slots, for that matter.

If Candace dunked at TBA wearing a UConn jersey...which she then popped while running down the other way? Our discussion about her would be like testimony from "The Salem Witch Trials".

I know we'd like to think differently, but can you imagine if Paige Bueckers got behind the wheel blackout drunk, drove into a building, and the cops needed to break the window to get her to respond? The thread here would be 10 pages long and talking more about her poor character than being forgiving for a youthful indiscretion. And that's the truth.

We all view the players through the lenses we do strictly because of which team we are fans of.
Exactly and my answer is NO…..NEVER. Candace Parker as all Vol and a great ambassador for Lady Vols Basketball. Taurasi is all Taurasi.

It’s called class. CPS had it and Geno doesn’t.

Candace didn't pop her jersey after the UConn dunk. That was after the WVU where Sally Bell's Karen ass gave her a T even though it wasn't directed at a WVU player or their bench.

But I have the game on DVD. No jersey pop. She did pop the jersey after the game was over, though. lol

This thread is just an indication that most fans all have the same feeling about ”their” team and players. Fans usually say how proud of “their” team they are. How much respect they have for the players. How mentally tough they are, how proud of them they are, etc., etc..

You can go into other teams forums and the posts would pretty much say the same as our forum and most forums have their negaxxx.

Exactly. It's funny, fans here are up in arms that Horston wasn't named to any All-American teams. I have zero doubts if she played for a rival team, she would get crushed on this forum...

What if Pat Summitt had coached at UConn but had also been born a man and Geno had been born a woman but did not coach the Lady Vols but instead had been the first woman to coach a D1 men's team but not in basketball but baseball and where Diana Taurasi had played shortstop on the UT women's softball team which was coached by a different Candace Parker than the one played who would have played for the male Pat Summitt at Uconn? How would UT fans feel about that scenario?

I think that might have worked splendidly. I think.

Do any of you remember when Coach Summitt and the then-Florida coach - I’m quite sure his name is Donovan - received the John Wooden Award(s)? His acceptance speech essentially consisted of anything and everything …Pat Summitt. Here he was, at the pinnacle. And all he can think of, and practically all he talked about was our girl! Was almost enough to make me pull for Florida.
Almost.
And, when she went to the White House to receive the Medal Of Freedom? After the event the staff attempted to usher everyone out. Well, until they realized that that long line, consisting of the other recipients, congressional and Caninet members, etc., that that line wasn’t headed to the door; they were lining up to meet …our girl! ♥️
All this to say, I think the only similar comparison to Candace (even though she only stayed at uconn for about a day; and I don’t think she ever dunked) is Elena Delle Donne. I don’t know if her numbers back me up, but considering her game, plus what she has to overcome - I think she still battles Lyme Disease - I think she’s about as good as it gets.
Taurasi? She’s probably not as bad as her in-game persona, however …

If that happened to PB she would get more support and have more defenders than BK. I can’t explain it but this board defends UConn and its players more than the Lady Vols.
