Future basketball season tickets

Not sure what your football donation is but some big donation is no longer require…I can call and get 2 ~50 yard line lowers for football and 2 mid court lowers for basketball and total out of pocket cost be ~$7,500…which is still not 5 figures? And would be 2 tickets to both sports…not sure where you 2 are getting your numbers from unless you’re just donating $10k for the fun of it and hoping for free tickets in return?

I have more than a couple of football tickets and give them to clients but last few years they sit unused. People don’t want to go. That’s changed this year.

to my rep and they have priced corner seats at 1500 per and mid court is 1750. They lowered it from 5 k to 1750 and the corner from 1750 to 1500. So 15 dollars more to sit at half court. Great deal for that. Horrible for corner. My son is in high school and plays baseball so I’m out. They should lower those corners substantially. And dog you can believe whatever. I don’t care. See ya on the moon DA.
That’s exactly what I said they cost…you said a 5 figure donation was required and then purchase of tickets as well, that’s not true…as you stated for $3,500 you can purchase 2 mid court seats.

But again, that doesn’t answer my question…and as I stated in my post you quoted if you are someone that had a deal in place then I get it, but for those who are talking about donating a bunch of money each year it doesn’t make much sense, to me. That’s what I was asking.

Those are few. The big donations were required for the handful of seats that opened up every year. Most of the new supply is coming by cancelling ALL of the existing deals. It’s a bad look to go for the short term money grab while sacrificing the long term loyalty. But the guys now in charge aren’t going to be decades long employees. They are motivated to grab as much as they can as quickly as they can. The days of Haywood Harris and the Gus Mannings having any say are ending.

I’m not sure what that has to do with my post? You aren’t being required to make a 5 figure donation, nor would 2 tickets to both sports even cost you that, that was the point.

Like I’ve repeatedly said, those with deals in place I get their frustration…but those who are actively making big donations in football it doesn’t make much sense to be frustrated by this new model.

OP was clear in stating that he doesn’t have seats on the floor…if you do then I’m surprised a couple grand is going to be enough to change your stance on attending, should be pocket change, I’m pretty sure Thunder doesn’t really care either way…you’ve yet to say what your donation is though to football, for $10k you can sit on the floor without a donation to football needed…so for $15k you can sit at the 50 lower level and on the floor for hoops, you’re talking like your donation is much more than $15k so I fail to see the issue other than the fact you seemingly are looking to complain for no reason.

The value in the coor or section sucks. No sideline was available when I decided to pick up basketball. If I could get mid court at 1750 a seat I would but I’m stuck at 1500 for a far more inferior view. It’s the principle that those are overpriced. 15 per game to sit midcourt is great but not if it isn’t available. I’m a businessman and will not pay basically the same for what is not near as nice.

Respectfully, I doubt there will be many of these available. Hasn’t been for years, and I wouldn’t think there will be in the future. You can call UTAD to get the most recent info and projections for next year.

You can but they don’t know right now. Spoke with them today.

There will be turnover with the seat license owners. They’ve had the best sideline lowers for 35 years at face value without having to make donations. But no doubt the best tgat become available will first be offered to those highest up the donor list, even if technically that list is being eliminated.

Well, maybe now I can get them.

And that’s absolutely fair, but seems like a much different take than your OP

The best side court lower seats are probably already promised to those that are well connected. Plan on the lower sides for the commoners to be those in section 108 and the section directly across the court. Might luck in to row 35 or higher in the sections closer to mid court.

Lots of “well-connected” folks sit in 103 and 107. I can see 102 and 108 being for the less well-heeled, but those aren’t considered mid-court, unless I’m mistaken.

The corner seats are pretty good. You face the court directly. The edges of the $1,750 sections face directly at the the baselines.

Mid court, $1,750 seats run through 108 IIRC. $1,500 behind with 109 in the corner.

Edit: looks like the $1,500 seats begin in 108 instead of the first angled section (109).

No, I said my total donations are five figures for football.

and like I said 2 tickets to football and 2 tickets to basketball can be obtained for less than the one donation you were previously making

“Less” at first and only for the new ticket buyers that only had a small supply of premium seats opening up each year to compete for. The prices will escalate quickly. Especially if Heupel has TN competing for SEC East titles and the transition after Barnes goes well. The supply is suddenly considerably more so the prices must start at a lower level. Blowing up the grandfathered arrangements was the end game.

I’ve never argued about what the prices would be 3, 4 or 5+ years from now…just that right now for the majority of people the pricing model is a good deal/better deal.

Thanks for those such as card, bto, and thunder for some good info which is what I was wanting to discuss. I really only get to 5-7 games anyway for basketball so may just let them go.

I understand but i need more for football and I’ve been taken care of pretty well there. Seats on west side in T and U and a few in X 1

The big savings go to those competing for the small quantity of seats that turnover every year. The majority in the TBA will pay far more since maybe 10,000 lifetime seat licenses are being cancelled. The analysis that the UTAD created and that you are repeating is using the small quantity of NEW ticket buyers’ cost with the initial new pricing chart. What is being left off of their argument is the sunk costs to donors. People that perhaps made one time gifts of $25-$50,000 that were not required to make annual gifts. Donors that made those large donors in the past and have had seats in “U” or “T” haven’t been required to pay an annual ransom to keep their seats. But if they gave those seats up the cost to the next guy would be 5 figures. Most of the one time $50k donors probably kick in annual gifts of a few thousand voluntarily anyway.

Comparing the cost of the (maybe) 5% churn with the tens of thousands of legacy seats being taken away isn’t a valid comparison. It makes for a good PR narrative to justify their cancelling grandfathered deals. The seat license holders and the families of faculty/staff don’t have much power to push back. The UTAD is stealing from long time fans.
