Future Offensive Class Breakdowns...

FB is a position you can get away with having two scholly guys and a some walk-ons as your back ups. We're talking about a position that won't even be on the field for 50% of the snaps.

you have us taking 2 qb, 2 rb, 1 fb, 3 wr, 2te, and 7 ol. we're not going to be taking 17 guys on offense this year. we have a lot of depth issues to address on defense too, you know.

also, the problem with an analysis like this is that we never know how many years each player will be here, so there is never a point where we can just start taking a default class year in and year out. you never know which position we'll get a guy an extra year because he redshirted, which position we'll only have a guy three years because he was ready for the draft, or which position we only get a guy 1.5 years because of drugs/guns/laziness/academics/etc. (not to mention, consider how many guys are labeled as one position during the recruiting process but end up playing somewhere else once they get here)

bottom line is - there isn't some magic combination of positions that we need to recruit to get us back to the depth of florida and alabama. we just need to have very solid recruiting classes the next few years and bring in as many quality athletes as we can. positions will sort themselves out over that time period.

I say we do away with the fullback and go 4 and 5 wide every play and just throw it up in the air and let one of our many 6'3 recievers catch it.

Well, you do realize that we will only have 10 players, minus the 2011 class in the two deep at OL don't you?? We HAVE to get at least 7 OL to get that depth up, or we will be screwed.

As far as everything else goes, it's my speculation based on needs.

Too many things stated as certainty that are entirely uncertain for my taste. Good effort though, Eric.

I think that Dooley wants to get a recruiting class model done by at least 2013, to focus on getting specific prospects on board. Pure speculation on my part though.

You can always through a linebacker there too. A guy that otherwise wouldn't see the field. Dooley loves TE's. I doubt you'll see much fullback. We need players at too many other positions.

so we are going to have 8 RBs, 13 WRs, 6 TEs, and 4 FBs on scholarship in '14?

wow.

and I don't see us taking more than 6 OL, probably 5 imo.

I would at least like to see a minimum of 6-8. Alabama has 6 on scholarship, and I would bet they sign 1-2 more this year.

As far as WR, remember not all of them pan out, and we will have some attrition. Maybe I should have mentioned that.
