Smith is mine, he has represented and recruited for UT for a long time now. He has been at like every game so far as well, even the UF game, love his love for UT.
This is my first post and it is a shame that it is in response to a UF "fan". But it simply blows my mind as I attempt to figure out why someone would go on to another team's board just to make sarcastic insulting remarks about everything. If UT gets FL players it is because UF doesn't want them or they are FL rejects. I do not understand why they believe that everyone one in the country wants to attend UF and play for the Gators. I am sure the response is becasue we win NC all of the time. Except that is not it, because they were acting like this even when they were winning 5-6 games a year. It is really sad. It is like they cannot be content with winning without insulting their opponents. Maybe it is like the old cliche about tearing others down to make yourself feel better. IDK but it sure does make reading posts on VN a lot less enjoyable. Sorry about the long post from a newbie, but I have been visiiting this site for awhile and the UF visitors relly annoy me.
I don't think he was calling you an outsider. I went back and re-read his post and he was referring to gator posters, and other teams for that matter...saying its nice to have outsiders (from other teams) perspectives on here, that is when they're not trolling...Thanks for the welcome, but I am not really an outsider. I have been a UT fan since I married an East TN girl back in 1982. And I probably have, unfortunately, a more extensive experience with that mutant species, Obnoxius gatoris than most, as I lived in So FL my entire life until 2 years ago. The same circular arguements, with the changing of the facts, that you get from UF "fans" on here, I used to get verbally. At least face to face, they need to be more civil as they cannot hide behind the anonymity the Internet provides. But I have not posted earlier because, even though it so frustrating to read UF posts, I know that it is hopeless trying to dicuss rationally anything with them, especially as it relates to Meyer or Kiffin. Meyer could be convicted of rape, murder and ripping tags off of pillows, and the UF faithful would excuse his behavior. Whereas, Kiffin could donate his entire salary to charity and spend his offseasons delivering food and medical supplies to the rfugees of Eastern Africa and the UF faithful would still attempt to spin his efforts into something nefarious. So I try ignore it and skip through the UF garbage to read about my beloved UT Vols.
I was not offended, I just misunderstood what was being said. I also wanted to give a little of my background so when I do post, people will understand where I am coming from with my posts. Just a side note; my hometown was in the same district as Pahokee so I have a pretty good understanding of the dynamics of that arera and also first hand knowledge of the incredible athletes in that area (known as the Muck Land). The cities of Belle Glade, Pahokee and Clewiston have produced the likes of Ricky Jackson (Saints), Randy Dixon (Colts), Eric Green (Cards), Santonio Holmes (Steelers) and Anquan Bolden(Cards), to name a few. All of which had long and successful careers in the NFL. It is definitely an area to keep and eye on. I agree, several outside posters bring interesting insight and a different perspective (rooting for their team and poking fun at ours without being obnoxious) which I like reading. Unfortunately that is clearly the minority.
+1
IMO its nice to have an outsider's perspective sometimes, but its almost impossible to have a civil conversation with a Florida fan. LSU, Bama, and even Georgia fans all have more class and more objective views than Florida fans. I just watched a video on a florida board called "swamp gas" that showed Reaves ripping a sign in the swamp and they are calling for criminal charges or a "urine bomb" thrown at him. I mean joke or not, that is weak-minded and very sad.
