When our kickers take the field, someone somewhere in TN has a nightmare...

Parlardy is coming off a hernia he had as a Freshman. If you've ever kicked a football you know that a strong abdomen is a must. Had he not been injured that kick Mt. Fat Cody blocked would have been the game winner over the trailer park.

Sorry to disappoint you, but Lincoln was the one who had the kick blocked against Alabama in 2009. Had Palardy been on the team, he would have graduated this season.
2009 freshman, 2010 sophomore, 2011 junior, 2012 senior.

The kicker for the "O Bama" game was Lincoln...

The problem with Palardy is that, at Aquinas, he never had to kick field goals. I think he was like 2/2 his senior year, but 82/82 on XPs. He got the ranking based on ability and workouts.

He was the number one kicker in the nation for a reason, he has tons of leg and great accuracy, the problem is in his head. There is no middle ground with Palardy, he will either still be a headcase and one of the worst kickers in the nation or he will work it out and be one of the best kickers in the nation.

IMO we are looking at a Crompton-esque senior season revival with Palardy

Thank you for encouraging me to follow your lead in using Google instead of total recall. Your Google skills are amazing.

I still blame the '09 Bama finish on Kiffin. We had made it obvious during that game that we could not make a FG of that distance on that day. 10-12 more yards, and I think there's a great chance we would have won. I never thought we had a chance to win that game until the pass that set us up around their 28 yard line, with plenty of time remaining. One play later, when I saw we were running the clock down to kick from there, my heart sank a bit, because I knew kicking from there meant a highly probable loss.

I will never trust another kick Palardy has/does. I cannot believe after Jones studies the film, he would believe any different.

Pray to god someone else steps up or we are in serious trouble.

truth is, palardy was pretty good. especially after september.

75% accuracy isn't horrible. that's what he was on the season.

that said, he only attempted one field goad over 40 yards all season, and missed it

You stand on the sideline for 95% of the time and then are asked to go and win the ballgame, you might say that would tighten the rectum on a whole bunch of us!!!

Have we established that it was Lincoln vs. Palardy yet? :)

Either way my favorite Vol kickers have always been John Becksvoort and Jeff Hall. Fuad/Carlos were a bit before my time, but as a kid Becksvoort and then Hall always just seemed automatic to me for 8 straight years. But when I went back and reviewed stats Becksvoort was a 69% field goal kicker and Hall was a 68% kicker. Jeff Hall even missed 7 XP's in his career! Palardy's a 69% field goal kicker and has missed 5 XP's.

That just floored me. It's obvious that the difference is that winning completely changes your special teams perception.

UT went 9-3, 9-3, 10-2, and 8-4 in Becksvoort's four years.
UT went 11-1, 10-2, 10-2, and 13-0 in Hall's four years.
UT of course has gone 6-7, 5-7, and 5-7 in Palardy's three years.

I'm not really arguing that Palardy is as good as those guys mentally, because it's obvious that we could rely on those kickers more often in those days. But at the same time, we also fielded an explosive yet clock management style of offense and a very good/capable defense that could get the ball back when they missed. We haven't had that luxury recently.

I'm not arguing that Palardy should be the #1 kicker in 2013, the job should be pretty open between him, Brodus, and Gantz (no idea about Bullock's health.) I'm just saying that with all the negativity you'd *think* Palardy was a 50% kicker or less.

After Lincoln's last year in which he was so bad, I was excited about UT signing the '#1 kicker in the US". Then I heard he had a FG and one XP blocked in the Under Armour (one of those all star games) Game. That was definitely a sign of things to come.

Palardy hit 75 % of his FG's last yr. which aint that bad, but a long of 38, and only 92% on PAT's.

Not me! I get nervous speaking to 10 people in a room, but Im sure kiking fg's in front of 100,000 would be easy...:)

Not true he was 7-9 on fg's with a long of 42 ,37-39 on pat's , 38-43 kickoffs were touchbacks and averaged 47.53 yds per punt his senior year.......and yes that is googled .....though I did know it was Lincoln that kicked into Mt Cody
