G.O.A.T Neyland vs Bryant

2 completely different era's...

This is really the issue. To a great extent, Neyland and Bryant coached two completely different games.

Besides my own personal bias, which I don't deny, I give the GOAT title to Bryant because he was able to accomplish feats that Neyland was never capable of:

Only two coaches ever won national championships under both the one platoon and two platoon systems: Bear Bryant and Darrell Royal.

The same two coaches were the only ones to ever win NCs with both segregated and integrated teams. Bryant won multiple titles with both.

Only two coaches won NCs in the unilimited and limited scholarship eras: Bear Bryant and Ara Parseghian. Bryant won multiple titles in both eras.

I didn't think Bear Bryant ever beat Neyland. I know he tied him once at Kentucky but I didn't think he ever got a victory. Where did the 8-5 record come from?

The numbers say Bryant. However, if Neyland had had those years he lost during WW2 and Korea, I think there would be a much better debate. But you know the old saying about ifs and buts.
