tennessee just really felt like home, to be honest, burrell told 247sports rusty mansell this week before publicly revealing his choice. i kind of had to judge my heart with this one, and thats just where its led me. im really grateful to coach pruitt and (cornerbacks) coach (terry) fair for recruiting me as hard as they did, and i feel comfortable down there.
burrell, who has received scholarship offers from more than 25 schools, said he was sold on the vols for multiple reasons, starting with the confidence i have in the vision coach pruitt has for tennessee. im looking forward to the opportunity to rebuild and get tennessee back to where they used to be, said burrell.
it was a huge plus that coach pruitt has that history with defensive backs. I look forward to him developing my game, burrell said. as soon as coach pruitt got the job, he made me a priority. Coach pruitt and coach fair see me playing field cornerback. They want me to contribute and play early, burrell said. i didnt have all the accolades when i was young. I take pride in being a hard worker. Ive put a lot of work in my game to get here, and thank god for this blessing to play for tennessee.
right now, i want my boy tank, jaylen mccollough. I want him to come up there, burrell said of the four-star safety from powder springs, ga., adding that he has known mccollough for a long time. Id like to get him in orange and white.
burrell said hes not sure yet whether he will enroll at tennessee next summer or try to graduate early and join the vols in january. But he knows hes not planning to continue exploring other options. Hes scheduled to return to tennessee this weekend to attend the vols cookout on saturday, and he said he doesnt expect to visit any other schools in the coming months. im done, burrell said.
