yeah, price alluded to the GT issue, especially a QB. said he wasn't sure about taking a madre london type just for a body though. if they're going to take transfers, except for QB which they would take for depth, i think anyone else would have to be thought to be a contributor immediately.
interesting. and yeah, if we take transfers, i'd like them to be of the Kennedy/solomon vareity, not the London........IDT they're looking for bodies; they want impact players. Pruitt pushed hard for Hurts; it just didn't work out. Hopefully, we won't have wasted spots like last year, but maybe we can pick up a few playmakers.
Was Kennedy of "that" variety?interesting. and yeah, if we take transfers, i'd like them to be of the Kennedy/solomon vareity, not the London........
That sack was not on Kennedy....the guard did not block his man.Was Kennedy of "that" variety?
He gave up an egregious sack his first play, generally didn't play well in the rest of that opener... then had a season ending knee injury in practice before week 2... sure hope Soloman has better production than that
At least it wasn't a 1-year throwaway like London and Chryst, and it's a position of need... but let's not anoint him the savior of the o-line quite yet lol
OK... the guy lined up directly in front of Kennedy went untouched to the QB... I didn't see the X's and O's for the line blocking assignments... but if the guy lined up over your damn helmet sacks the QB, untouched, I'm going to blame youThat sack was not on Kennedy....the guard did not block his man.
Well assumptions are wrong when it comes to line assignments. There are these things called reach blocks that linemen practice for a reason. It was a WR screen, which was a pass play. The RG took off to block the LB.OK... the guy lined up directly in front of Kennedy went untouched to the QB... 2:20....
Looking back on it... that whole play was trash lol
the guard headed up field on a pass play, which is illegal... running right past the DT (who was lined up right in front of Kennedy)... Kennedy whiffed trying to make up for it... just a garbage play
The play is right above you... Kennedy missed the block... the guard didn't help anything... but that was obviously Kennedy's assignment... because he tried to block him and missed... blocking assignments aren't NEARLY as complicated as you're making them seem... I used to play TE lolWell assumptions are wrong when it comes to line assignments. There are these things called reach blocks that linemen practice for a reason. We don't know what play was called, but it could have been a play where another lineman was pulling around.

Looking back on it... that whole play was trash lol
the guard headed up field on a pass play, which is illegal... running right past the DT (who was lined up right in front of Kennedy)... Kennedy completely missed the block... just a garbage play
I played center...so depending on if the DT was lined up straight over the C or shaded to the left or right changes blocking assignments. I don't think any screen pass calls for the G to run down field. The play is right above you... No way to know what exactly the blocking assignments were, but if it was drawn up for the RG to block that DT alone and for Kennedy to not at least start off on a combo block, then what a pitifully designed play. That would be a textbook example of how our scheme set up our OL to fail at times.that is why the play was blown up, the RG missed his assignment. He was either suppose to help on the DT or take the DT on his own. Just because the DT was lined up "over" Kennedy does not mean that that was his man. He could've been shaded to the right shoulder which changes blocking assignments.

this is pretty much what i was getting at. i think we all expect Kennedy to come back and be a good player for us this year. we need him to be for sure. we'll get production at a position of need. that wasn't hte case with London. Was Kennedy of "that" variety?

Chryst was in no way a must, which was illustrated as the season played out. We would’ve had the exact same record, the exact same outcome regarding wins with McBride coming in and playing for JG when he was injured as we did with Chryst. That’s just the truth. I can see why they wanted to bring someone in with some experience prior to the beginning of last season without knowing what might happen, but in hindsight, it was unnecessary. No, but taking Chryst was a must. JG getting injured could have lead to a 3 win season if McBride was the backup. JG stayed relatively healthy but you cant simply assume that would happen.
there's a good bit of chatter that we'd take another grad transfer QB this cycle, for the same reason we did last cycle. apparently we did push pretty hard for Hurts behind the scenes.Chryst was in no way a must, which was illustrated as the season played out. And now and year later, we sit here with one less valuable scholarship to give because of it. My guess is Pruitt learned his lesson and we don’t see that happen again this year.
