'24 GA DL Jeremias Heard (Tennessee commit)

Jeremias Heard is one to keep an eye on heading into the spring. Alabama and Georgia have both picked up communication here and want to see him on campus during March. He plans to visit both, but he continues to maintain a strong line of communication with the Vols. He plans to return to Knoxville for a spring practice in March. He has legitimate offers to play basketball at the P5 level and the ability to back it up, but he feels like football is his ticket at the end of the day and is open to playing on the defensive or offensive side of the football.

6'9 is a bit tall for a IDL lol
Height makes it harder to get low on the pad level. However, I also think in the modern passing game of football, having a tall guy with a huge wingspan in the middle, makes it difficult to pass in certain lanes. Stetson Bennett couldn’t get his arm even that high.

Both played on the outside of the DL in that scheme and are still 2-3 inches shorter than Heard

Both are 6'7/6'8. I'm not going to fight over an inch.

Andddddd okay, tell Heard, "Hey biggin, you see those twin towers that played at Oregon? Yeah we want you to be that"

Get him in the boat!

If this staff wants him I am all in. Just that simple. I am sure they have made a risk/reward analysis on him based on his physical abilities and factoring in his very limited FB training. His learning curve chart to date could be a real factor, stars not so much. Travel time to Athens and Knoxville are very similar, and we beat Bama by about a half hour... 411 runs right through Rome and can be used to get to 75 or duck under it and bypass Chattanooga and jump on at Cleveland or Sweetwater for a much less stressful drive. Use it a lot as I go to Rome and catch 27 S to avoid Atlanta on my trips to family in Auburn. A few slow down spots but much less cardiac stress.

Walk on please, no offense, but we’re in on 20 different DL it feels like, and in a good spot for most.

Agreed. And if it’s true others want him to visit but he only wants to hang out with us, then it sounds like he would be receptive to being a walk on, with a nil deal to pay his tuition.

This young man has been playing football since July. So he’s as raw as can be. Meanwhile, like you said, we’re deep in it with a number of stud DL who could be immediate or year two contributors.

He's new to football, but he's an elite athlete. You start talking about walking on and he'll walk right on to visits with other schools. If Coach Garner thinks he's worth taking his commit, then you roll the dice. Recruiting is about projection sometimes. Also, none of us know how many DLINE recruits they plan on taking this year. We also haven't seen what kind of Senior season he might have. To many factors to be asking an athlete of this caliber to walk on this early.
