I think Heup will be here a long time. But I don’t think this specific commit proves anything one way or the other. We won’t know Heupel’s recruiting ability until next years class. I mean, if he flips Cheeks and lands a few surprises that would be a positive sign thoI was told Heupel couldn’t recruit and wouldn’t last long here.
If he can consistently bring in good OL & DL by SEC standards, then I expect he will be here for the long haul. Personally, I think he needs system guys at skill positions and not necessarily the best of the best. Don’t get me wrong I am sure he would gladly sign top 100 QBs, WRs, TEs, or RBs if they want to come to UT. Look at what he has done with guys like Hooker, Payton, Tillman, Warren, and Jones. We saw limited production from those players prior to this year and now they have provided big time numbers against SEC competition. I believe Velus was a 4 star if IIRC but this has been his breakout year.I think Heup will be here a long time. But I don’t think this specific commit proves anything one way or the other.
